A place to share stories and laughs our animals have given us. Newer posts →. November 1, 2010. And when I graduated high school and became “an adult” my riding “scholarship” was cut off. And rightfully so, no bitterness hear. But this meant a hiatus from riding for several years. I joined the equestrian team in college and helped some friends ride horses for clients just to keep from having complete and total withdrawal. But riding a. Horse isn’t quite the same as riding your. I love you and miss you.

The Trotting Post: The Horses
http://trottingpost.blogspot.com/p/horses.html
Here are some. not all of the horses that I have been lucky to own or work with. Jadi was the first horse I ever took a lesson on. She was an old paso fino with a gland problem that caused her to be extremely hairy all the time. Which was fine with me, it just made her extra snuggley. She was a sweet mare that toted me around the back yard and occasional trips down the road. Ultimately sent him off to be a happy trail horse. Lastly, is Dexter, my current horse. He is an 8 yr old Friesian cross and my...

The Trotting Post: Test Calling
http://trottingpost.blogspot.com/2012/05/test-calling.html
May 2, 2012. When I started showing again last year one thing I noticed was that almost everyone had a test caller. Even when I went to go see my trainer ride, she had someone calling out the test to her. When did this become the norm? When I first started showing (10 ) years ago, you almost never saw a reader outside of Training Level, and even then it was for the younger riders. I get it, there is a lot going on, and with nerves its very easy to forget your next movement. I know, I have forgotten a...

The Trotting Post: April 2011
http://trottingpost.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
April 29, 2011. OK, I know this horse doesn't belong anywhere near a 6 year old before it learns some manners. But besides that this little kid is such a trooper and is certainly not going to take crap from a little pony. Not once do you see tears. April 18, 2011. Feedback For My Dexter. Please stop staring at the spectators on the side lines at the shows. It makes people think you don't know how to got straight on a long side. I promise they aren't there to kill you or give you treats. April 13, 2011.

The Trotting Post: May 2011
http://trottingpost.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
May 27, 2011. Day 2 - Rainy Days. Ok, so the first day was a wash, but the second day would be better right? Nope, a wash too. almost literally. Canter through the mud, and he would shorten his stride at the trot. I get it, when I first got Dexter he wasn't all that balanced and he used to slip all the time with his back legs, even on dry dirt. So he's smart, and doesn't want to slip. I let it go being as the test arena looked better. I was wrong. I think it was a good first season, although short. W...

The Trotting Post: July 2011
http://trottingpost.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
July 15, 2011. I know there are quite a few fellow bloggers out there planning on heading out to shows this weekend, some the first time this season, some the first ever. May your horse be focused, the weather be nice, and the ribbon be blue (or red for our Canadians). I'm looking forward to reading about the adventures come next week! July 12, 2011. Dressage is Taking Over Eastern CO! And maybe I'll have someone to go to shows with next year! But I'm not getting ahead of myself. :). July 11, 2011. IT'S ...

A place to share stories and laughs our animals have given us. I am an average woman who has the absolute need to be around horses. I did not grow up on a farm, no one in my family rides, but from an early age I wanted to learn how to ride and was hooked from the start. I have owned a handful of horses over the years and all have made me laugh, hurt and unapoligetically shown me who I truly am. I Got One Ride In! November 29, 2010. Family, Horses, and Turkey…oh my! A place to share stories and laughs our animals have given us. Family, Horses, and Turkey…oh my! I Got One Ride In! November 29, 2010. To my delight my family was willing to let me sneak away for a ride. My brother and his wife brought my 10 month old nice out to meet Dexter then left me to ride. It was windy and short (30 minutes) but it was just enough to fill my cup. So, I’m glad I got to ride, being that I didn’t expect to at all. Thanks Family! View all posts by mablekb →. Enter L.E. – my new Pony Club horse! Or so I thought. She jumped just fine but she hated it! Horses are amazing animals, the do so much for us and ask for little in return.
