Moths

Moths can be a lot of Fun. I only have a limited perspective and don't know a lot about them. Anyone who can help zero in on the identification and life history of any of these individuals please drop me a line. I've included a few photos of some interesting looking beast encountered in Late July both around the North Quabbin and while Traveling in Northern New Hampshire. This spectacular caterpillar was found by Tim Silva on the TTOR/USCEC/ABNC canoe trip up Lawrence Brook in Royalston on July 26, 2003.

The Hot and Steamy day of August 2nd found Shelley Hight and I wading along the Millers. I found the first Rusty Snaketail in almost a month and Shelley found this rather small Wood Turtle resting in shallow water along the bank. Wood Turtle Clemmys insculpta. Found by Shelley Hight in the sandy shallows of Millers River.

August 8 through 17, 2002. Based at Stevens Point in Portage County Wisconsin Shelley Hight and I spent 10 days exploring the countryside of Central Wisconsin. Although quite warm by anyone's standards the Heat wave here at home was not particularly missed as we plied the many waters and meadows of Wisconsin.
