The Diabetic Shambles Manifesto. Taking Care of Yourself. Adventures in Irresponsible Adulthood. November 9, 2015. March 9, 2016. Mostly, we tick along and things are going reasonably well, not amazingly, but not terribly. Then sometimes the wheel comes off the wagon. Sometimes it’s like a slow puncture, as we deflate our way down – others it’s a spectacular blowout. How do we deal with this and try to get back on the horse… Read More D-saster Relief. Frequently Aske-D Questions – The Diabetic Shambles

https://diabeticshambles.com/2015/11/09/the-diabetic-shambles-presents-frequently-aske-d-questions

The Diabetic Shambles Manifesto. Taking Care of Yourself. Adventures in Irresponsible Adulthood. It’s November, which means it’s Diabetes Awareness Month, and on the 14th it’s also World Diabetes Day. When we eat carbohydrates (like pasta, rice, potatoes, sugary things) they get broken down into glucose in the intestine, and then absorbed into the blood stream. This is the same whether you have diabetes or not. The next stage is where things differ:. If you don’t have diabetes. If you have diabetes.

Solemates – Diabetes and your Feet – The Diabetic Shambles

https://diabeticshambles.com/2016/10/14/solemates-diabetes-and-your-feet

The Diabetic Shambles Manifesto. Taking Care of Yourself. Adventures in Irresponsible Adulthood. Solemates Diabetes and your Feet. As most readers will know, I have both a personal and professional interest in Type 1 Diabetes. Alongside living with it, I’m also a medical student, so I have the privilege of seeing a lot of stuff on both sides of the discussion. None of this is medical advice – if you are worried about your feet, go see your GP. I promise there’s no gross photos in this post. So, why shoul...

burnout – The Diabetic Shambles

The Diabetic Shambles Manifesto. Taking Care of Yourself. Adventures in Irresponsible Adulthood. As a person in the know about diabetes, both personally and professionally, I still find it quite hard to define diabetes burnout. It may be that it differs from person to person. Most likely it is that the way it manifests itself depends on what sort of person you are. Diabetes.co.uk characterises it as the ‘state of… Read More Burnout. January 18, 2016. March 9, 2016. Diabetes & Me: a winning combination – The Diabetic Shambles

https://diabeticshambles.com/2016/06/12/diabetes-me-a-winning-combination

The Diabetic Shambles Manifesto. Taking Care of Yourself. Adventures in Irresponsible Adulthood. Diabetes and Me: a winning combination. Today marks the first day of Diabetes Week 2016. And so I thought rather I’d write a blog post – the blog has been quiet over the last few months as I’ve been busy trying to get through a tough year of medical school and Clare has been finishing her nursing studies. I’m not sure I would have ended up working 10 feet away from the Prime Minister’s desk. I...I have learne...

Linda's photo blog: Two more Adventures–Number Two

http://linda-lindasphotoblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/two-more-adventuresnumber-two.html

Monday, 11 May 2015. Two more Adventures–Number Two. You will all know that I have rekindled my love of dressmaking in the past year or so. I have loved reading the sewing blogs and have discovered a whole world of independent pattern designers, sewing tips and tutorials and pattern hacks. I found that there is quite an interest in vintage patterns. See Marie of ‘A Stitching Odyssey’. And Kerry of ‘ Kestrel Makes’. It’s fun to see the sort of patterns I might have made in the 1970s and 1980s! I love old ...

Linda's photo blog: May 2014

http://linda-lindasphotoblog.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, 25 May 2014. I must admit to have neglected this project a little.  So I’ve cheated a little and looked at my recent photos to see if any fit! I live in a seaside town on the south coast of England.  The English channel is wider here - about 40 miles from France and mainland Europe.  I love the sea! It’s Me Made May among the sewing blogs! We went to a fish and chip restaurant at Brighton Marina last night. The sky was really messy with all different types of clouds! Friday, 23 May 2014. 160; We ...

Linda's photo blog: New Zealand!

http://linda-lindasphotoblog.blogspot.com/2015/04/new-zealand.html

Thursday, 9 April 2015. Long time no see! I’ve been back from my trip to Australia and New Zealand for 2 weeks now, and am well and truly over the jet lag – but not the post-holiday-blues! It really was a trip of a lifetime! We loved every minute of it! Here are some highlights:. Our first stop was Adelaide in Australia to visit my cousin Richard and his lovely wife Jacqui. Here they are with Maurice on Brighton beach! They spoilt us rotten for 3 days, showing us the sights of Adelaide. Every day's ridin...

Linda's photo blog: January 2015

http://linda-lindasphotoblog.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, 29 January 2015. Some big Adventures and some January finishes! I seem to have got right out of the habit of blogging lately. Not sure what to do about this – perhaps I should just blog intermittently for now. But here’s some fabulous news! My one little word for 2015 is ADVENTURE. In fact, it is a really BIG word, as I have 2 BIG adventures to look forward to this year. In just over 3 weeks time, we take off on our holiday of a lifetime! My second ADVENTURE is to get a puppy when we get home!

Linda's photo blog: 1969 dress

http://linda-lindasphotoblog.blogspot.com/2015/08/1969-dress.html

Friday, 7 August 2015. Since starting to collect and sell vintage dress patterns on Etsy, I have been wanting to make one of them. I choose Simplicity 8381, a 1969 shift dress with princess seams and pockets on the front. The pattern istself was not in great condition, but still usable. Laura at More Sewing. A wedding dress designer and sewing school. I lined it with white polyester to give it that 1960s ‘rustle’ as I swish around! I am really pleased with the fit of the dress! 7 August 2015 at 05:17.

Linda's photo blog: June 2014

http://linda-lindasphotoblog.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Sunday, 29 June 2014. Scavenger Hunt Part 1: The Day Out. It’s always fun to join in with Rinda’s. Plenty of nice lampposts in Rye. Got a feeling I might be taking a few lampposts, I know we have some pretty ones in Worthing with hanging baskets full of flowers at this time of year. Sign in a language other than English. Birds on a Wire. I am thinking that ‘Birds on a Wire’ could be difficult so how about A Bird on a Post? This black-headed gull had it’s beady eyes on my sandwich! Is this a cheat? NO, I ...

Linda's photo blog: August 2014

http://linda-lindasphotoblog.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, 24 August 2014. It’s finally finished! We hung the curtains last weekend. (Actually we still need to get a blind for the window over the sink, but apart from that it is all done. I spent this morning tidying up and cleaning so I thought I’d better take some photos! WE are delighted with our new kitchen, and it is easy to work in and keep clean and tidy. Look at these 2 cupboard inserts:. Second, and my favourite, a very sturdy basket pully-outy thing! Here it is inside the cupboard:. I love them ...

Linda's photo blog: My Garden in July and update on adventures

http://linda-lindasphotoblog.blogspot.com/2015/07/my-garden-in-july-and-update-on.html

Wednesday, 15 July 2015. My Garden in July and update on adventures. It is rather a long time since I last blogged! I have been busy with my 2 adventures: puppy and Etsy shop. I’ve set up a sewing blog to go side by side with my Etsy shop. It’s here. If you want to pop over and have a look. I’m really pleased with the blog header, but not so pleased with the photos in the blog posts! Anyway, my garden is looking fabulous this year after replanting the south facing border last year:. He is so cute! Linda ...
