Sunday, November 11, 2012. I came home to find Erik about to hang the last shingle on the final end to be sided. What a momentus event to witness. I am thrilled with the progress of this year, as we approach our 3rd year at 528 Spurwink, the exterior is done- now we can focus on the finishing the interior. Sunday, June 10, 2012. New Windows in Back Dormer. There's the rough opening, ready for the building wrap and then window will go into the opening and be secured. In order for the opening to be made in that red plaid room my closet ended up in the backyard. I was able to get my clothes out just in time, or I think they would have been in this pile of debris as well! Labels: Andersen Woodwright Windows 400 series. Thursday, July 4, 2013. It's been awhile since my last post. Erik and I are about to begin phase 3. of the big phases to the house. We just moved our lives back downstairs and cleaned out upstairs in order to begin gutting the upstairs. We'll probably start ripping it apart tomorrow. It will feel so good to get this done. Thursday, September 15, 2011. Evidently our mailbox wasn't up to the US postal service standards. The postwoman left us a diagram showing us that the mailbox wasn't at the proper height (45") and the box was not secured to the base. The repairs to the mailbox clearly was not a priority for us, but the alternative of not getting our mail was a swift kick to get this done. Here is the new mailbox, Erik re-used the post for our light at the end of the driveway, and some leftover decking from the back deck.

Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Paul Jones in the Wall. Karl posing with the treasure he finds behind the wall. Take a good look as this is the last smile out of him for the rest of the day, I am pretty sure the squirrel nests and mouse poop was more than he bargained for in his idea of helping out. But it was a HUGE help. We gutted the entire room and cleaned up the crap. Literally. The dining room with all it's "old world" charm. With the wood paneling gone and the wall paper ready to get the 'ole heave ho.

Tuesday, August 23, 2011. As many of you know, we have a truck. What you may not realize is that most of the time I don't get charged for dumping materials at the dump, because typically there is no charge for car loads, truck loads are another story- for instance, 10$ a load for wood waste). Bill Lee stopped by just as things were starting to get going and took some action photos of the living room and the tow truck carting the volvo off to the shop. Monday, December 9, 2013. Phase 3- inside the 2nd floor part 2. Putting it back together. Erik reframed what he could. Erik shimmed every 16" to level out the 3" difference across the entire 2nd floor. This was huge. If he hadn't of done that, everything would have been off. Have a mentioned how truly talented he is? Friday, July 18, 2014. My last post was in December? The guest room is ready for visitors! However, in the next few weeks we aren't sure if you want to make a reservation anytime soon.as the last room we finished is for the baby! Who is soon to arrive in the next four weeks. Below are a few shots of the upstairs. Hall looking towards our bedroom. A sneak peak into our bedroom. We added the small window next to the double hung. The guest room, so serene and peaceful for the next few weeks.
