Seven Pilgrims: Catching Up. WAY Up.
http://sevenpilgrims.blogspot.com/2015/07/catching-up-way-up.html
Friday, July 10, 2015. Catching Up. WAY Up. Life has been so very fun this year. There have been a lot of celebrations so far and wonderful memories made. In March, Molly turned 14! In March, we also began getting our backyard ready for Emily’s graduation party at the end of May. We snagged an old bed frame from the side of the road and used it for a fence. We got rid of weeds, moved dirt, and planted. Jan’s sister also gave us some very nice patio furniture as well as a fire pit. And they found THIS whe...

Seven Pilgrims: Homeschooling
http://sevenpilgrims.blogspot.com/p/homeschooling.html
Our Homeschooling Journey, Part 1. Our family has homeschooled from the "beginning of time". I, Jan, worked as a public school teacher with the Long Beach Unified School District. I taught 5th and 3rd grade. In God's providence, I was surrounded by families at my church who home schooled their children, so it was not a foreign idea to me. But it was to Earl. To grab was entitled "The Well-Trained Child: A Guide to Classical Education at Home" by Susan Wise Bauer and Jessie Wise. (Little did I know ho...

Sunday, August 09, 2015. Slowing it Down on Sunday Mornings. Back in June of this year, our church changed facilities. We went from meeting at a local elementary school in the morning, to meeting at another church facility in the. And I am loving the new routine! What is my heart and mind thinking on? 8220;As a couple, David and I vowed to work together to restore our observance of the Lord’s Day, to seek to make Sunday the best day of the week, the high point, to struggle to establish this rhythm ...

Seven Pilgrims: September 2014
http://sevenpilgrims.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Well, so much for my goal of blogging once a week throughout the summer. We are well into our 7th week of school now and things are. The school that she has chosen is Regent University. In Virginia Beach, VA. She wants to be a film major and they have a great program, according to all of her research. She wanted to stay away from Hollywood and hold onto her convictions, so she knew she wanted to pursue her dream at a private Christian college. Besides being on HSLDA’s T...

Seven Pilgrims: January 2015
http://sevenpilgrims.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 24, 2015. 8220;Life is like a Mountain Railroad”. This song has been going through my mind the past few days. This is the version I like:. I’ve also been thinking about the story of Gideon. This part particularly:. Now the same night it came about that the Lord said to him, “Arise, go down against the camp,. For I have given it into your hands. But if you are afraid to go down, go with Purah your servant down to the camp,. And you will hear what they say; and. Into his hand.”. Place lat...

Seven Pilgrims: November 2014
http://sevenpilgrims.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 28, 2014. The Giving of Thanks. It’s my word for pondering this past month (thanks to two dear friends). It means, to give thanks. It’s the same word used in the account of Jesus breaking the bread on the night before He was crucified. He took the bread and gave thanks. He gave thanks for what He knew was going to crush Him. He gave thanks for what wasn’t enough. I’m so thankful for the life of Jesus and the example He set . . . for me. A camera on my phone.). It actually started on Mond...

Seven Pilgrims: I Love My Wind Chimes
http://sevenpilgrims.blogspot.com/2015/03/i-love-my-wind-chimes.html
Sunday, March 08, 2015. I Love My Wind Chimes. Yesterday we had what is not so affectionately called the “Santa Ana Winds”. These winds blow hot and fast. They come off of the desert and dry everything out. It makes hair full of static electricity and skin crack. It kicks up dust and pollen and brings much distress to all allergy sufferers. No one around here really enjoys the Santa Anas. That’s the sound I enjoy most. And 1 Peter 4:18 reminds us that “it is with difficulty that the righteous are s...

Seven Pilgrims: Does My Cup Runneth Over?
http://sevenpilgrims.blogspot.com/2015/05/does-my-cup-runneth-over.html
Friday, May 15, 2015. Does My Cup Runneth Over? Of my listening time.) My days are short, my battles are many, my goals are high, and my flesh is so weak. I need music with lyrics that will help me to keep my focus on the LORD and remind me of His truth and will help me preach to myself. This morning a song played with the line “. And oh there's something 'bout the way. Your sun shines on my face. It's a love so true I can never get enough of You. Another song this morning mentioned the line. 8221; How I...

Seven Pilgrims: February 2014
http://sevenpilgrims.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 27, 2014. We’ve been watching this praying mantis egg sac for weeks now and today they finally came spilling out! It was so cool! However, Jonathan and Annie thought it best to keep a safe distance. We had the egg in a paper sack with a viewing window and then we put the sack in our butterfly habitat (we wanted to be sure they couldn’t somehow escape into our house). Two sets, actually. Not all mantids fly, but use their wings primarily for camouflage. I hope we see these little guys a...
