Life In The Mitten: January 2012
http://displaced-duck.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Life In The Mitten. Life, Running, and Other Things. Wednesday, January 04, 2012. I've noticed a trend. By scrolling through Facebook and twitter I'm seeing a lot of "friends" celebrating the end of 2011 in a different manner this year. Usually it's the same old "looking forward to next year" or "had a great year, looking forward to continuing that this year" kind of stuff. The trend is that 2011 sucked. Across the board. It did for us! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The two of us on the Oregon coast. Natio...

Life In The Mitten. Life, Running, and Other Things. Tuesday, August 30, 2011. It hit me a couple of weeks ago as I was sitting at soccer practice watching the new freshman descend upon campus in droves as they moved into the dorms. 20 years ago I moved to 219 E. Church St, Oxford, OH 45056 to start my. Freshman year of college. No idea why it resonates with me that way. Maybe because those four years in Oxford living in the Evans Scholar house were some of the defining moments in who I am? Oh that's rig...

Life In The Mitten. Life, Running, and Other Things. Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Me: Do you have a foam roller? Him: No, but I've got a Nalgene water bottle that will work. Part of me smiled at his resourcefulness.for about 2 seconds and then the rest of me got pissed off. Why you ask? This is why, and almost word for word what I told him:. Even worse you'll spend way more money than that this summer on beer! Stop making excuses and do what you need to do to be a better runner! Wednesday, May 11, 2011.
Life In The Mitten: Work In Progress
http://displaced-duck.blogspot.com/2012/02/work-in-progress.html
Life In The Mitten. Life, Running, and Other Things. Monday, February 13, 2012. February is almost half over so I'm sure that a fairly high percentage of resolutions have been thrown by the wayside because change is hard. But then we set ourselves up for failure in that regard - too lofty of goals, too drastic of a change in behavior, etc. Update on the ankle:. Originally the plan was to train for and race the Rock 'N Roll Half Marathon in Seattle. I realized though that I was being too aggressive wi...

Frankies Rambling, Ranting, Riding, etc. Wednesday, June 23, 2010. Getting Started On The Road To Losing 39. What does the title mean you ask? How do I plan on accomplish my goals you ask? Lots of little things that hopefully will add up to alot of weight loss. Some of those things are. Cutting way back on fast food. Kick the Coca-Cola habit ( or at least cut that way back ). Eating healthier and cleaner ( read lots of fruits and veggies, lean meats, more whole grains ). Exercise and working out. 2010 an...

Tuesday, June 30, 2009. Tech Tuesday - Mid year review. I have been neglecting my blogging as of late. I apologize, but will not give excuses, even though I have plenty. Suffice it to say that there are more important things in life than blogging. Since we are half-way through the year, I thought a quick review would be a good idea to see what I have done this year that make me a better Dad, husband, employee, etc. So, what about you? Any progress on your annual goals? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Other B...

Saturday, February 27, 2010. Epic Ride (sort of). It was beneath an overcast post-dawn sky that this epic ride was started. OK, maybe most people wouldn't consider it an Epic Ride. Alright, I wouldn't even have considered this an epic ride a few years ago, but hey, I just doubled my 2009 bike mileage in a single morning. Pretty embarrassing to admit that my total logged bike miles for 2009 was 4. It did feel good to get out for a bit over 30 min this morning and I hope to get more rides real soon.

Friday, May 28, 2010. CAN - step - step - step - CAN. Your biggest challenge isn't someone else. It's the ache in your lungs and the burning in your legs, and the voice inside you that yells 'CAN'T", but you don't listen. You just push harder. And then you hear the voice whisper 'can'. Saturday, July 18, 2009. I went for a run last night. I didn't track my time (even took my watch off). I didn't track my distance (didn't even bring my Garmin with me). But it was still the best run I have had in a very long time. I got home after work and knew I needed. A run It was 110 outside and a dust and wind storm were on the horizon, but I didn't care. Status very much. I finally decided that heat warning or not, I was going running. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Some of my favorite links.

Sunday, January 9, 2011. 2010 Year in Review. So what will 2011 bring? I have spent some time during the last part of 2010 working on getting my financial and physical house in order. Working on (and living on) a budget is not fun, but is necessary and better than the alternative. Dr visits are a good thing to catch possible problems before they are serious. Watching my sodium intake today is better than medication (or worse) later. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Some of my favorite links. A Guy Who Runs.

In almost every tattoo shop there are a lots of books available with a lot of great drawings and designs from which you can choose to get your body inked. These drawings en designs are pretty meaningless most of the time and people only choose them because they like them. There is nothing wrong with that, but a tattoo becomes much more beautiful and important when it means something more to you. This gives our tattoos an extra meaning, because we will think about our wedding every time we look at it.
