A forum for furthering my growth as a journalist. Wednesday, April 25, 2007. This profile hits it. We see a public figure in private- tooling around his home, ferociously reading paperbacks, struggling with his genius. I appreciate the reportage because Gorney clearly spent lots of time with Geisel or at least asked the right questions. I found myself asking 'how did she find that out? Thursday, April 26, 2007. The readings on Virginia Tech are pretty scary. It's insane to think that someone could just walk into a classroom and start shooting. This is particularly creepy since an incident of much smaller proportion happened on our campus a few years ago, and on top of it all the guy at KVCC. Really went and stirred things up. Wednesday, May 30, 2007. I really liked Charlie's pick for this week with the article "Elite Colleges Open New Door to Low-Income Youths" by Sara Rimer in. The New York Times. I think that this piece is a great example of something short, sweet, and interesting. The piece then flashes back quickly, which does a good job of providing personal background information.
