Sunday, 5 May 2013. It's rice pudding but not as you know it. Like all good chefs searching for inspiration I took to the google machine and I have to admit that the bones of this dish originated here. And I just worked with it from a dairy free perspective.ish, as you will see in a bit, version. So how to make this scrumsciousness . Serves 8 fairly easily. 100g dairy free spread ( or butter if you prefer). 100g soft light brown sugar. 1 litre unsweetened soya. 1 litre hazelnut soya milk. Zest of a lemon.

StuffnSense: April 2013

http://doingthedo.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 17 April 2013. Baking and Prom Gowns. The flurry of baking appears to have continued unabated, chocolate swirl meringues, thank you. Bill Collison Cook Eat Smile. Melted mars bar cookies, inspired by. And apple and raisin strudels Yes, finally got round to feeling inspired to use the Filo pastry mistakenly bought the other week for the custard tarts. I used shop bought free range. 100g dark chocolate, roughly chopped or broken. 3 large egg whites ( see above). Cocoa powder to serve. Turn the o...

StuffnSense: March 2013

Saturday, 30 March 2013. Good Friday baking fever! Now to be totally transparent two out of the three things have turned out to be exactly that, delicious. Delish Brownies and Candy wood bark. The third however, utter disaster. There's a little Portuguese place near to where I live that turns out the most delicious custard tarts, Pasteis de nata. And a few days ago I had the idea of trying to recreate them without using a recipie. I mean how hard can it be. Right? The bin may well be the final option but...

StuffnSense: October 2010

http://doingthedo.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, 28 October 2010. Now I have to admit that at this point I did take on the behaviour of a very pre-pubescent teenager.I did literally throw my toys out of the pram. My choice left to me was a couple of dodgy horror movies, one in 3D? I still don't know and truth be told I still feel a little miffed in not seeing the film I wanted. Then again, I now have a reason to sort another baby sitter out and attempt a second go at the movies. Links to this post. Wednesday, 20 October 2010. Damson jam, or a...

StuffnSense: July 2012

http://doingthedo.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, 15 July 2012. A season of renewal and growth. It's been a fair while since my lost blog, spring 2011 turned into summer and saw a house move and a victorious outcome in my work tribunal. Then summer sprawled into autumn and I turned 44 and my marriage went into free fall and my husband left the marital home and I started working again part time at a night shelter for 6 months. A web developer's journal. Mercurial Versus Git (Kind Of). There are many posts comparing Mercurial and Git, but here are the top things I noticed recently when I used Mercurial for an extended amount of time. Before that, I had come from a Git background. Git has a staging area and Mercurial doesn’t. In Mercurial, when you modify files already in a repo, they’re automatically added to the list of things that will be commited. In Git, you need to explicitly add these every time to the staging area. Mercu...

doingthedissertation | Discussions about doing my dissertation research

Discussions about doing my dissertation research. September 5, 2012. I was soooo excited! I felt like I had found my base! Anyways, I wanted to provide the section I wrote that explains this perspective and why it fits will with my work. Any and all comments, criticisms, questions, and general feedback is much much appreciated! Here it is (I don’t know how to do footnotes in this and don’t want to spend the time to find out so references are simply listed at the end, sorry):. While this particular issue ...

Doing the Dolce Diet

Thursday, March 3, 2011. Day 17.at least I think I'm on day 17.Kind of lost track without updating everyday. Sunday will be our 21 days. Yayyyy! We've been sticking to our meal plans as usual, with very little variety in our meals. Eggs and turkey bacon for breakfast. Cereal or oatmeal as a snack. Grilled 4 oz of chicken and some sort of veggie for dinner. With green tea for every meal, and even sometimes just because I crave it, and lots and lots of water! I do want to do some research on some new recip...

It's ham and eggs for me the next few months. Wednesday, 16 May 2012. From scrambled to creme. My kids were looking at me strangely – Lucy even commented that I didn't need to eat all of it in one go (I wonder where she'd heard that one! But in fact I did. I needed to get it all out of my house! Tuesday, 28 February 2012. New habits are hard to break. Oh what a difference 8 weeks makes.
