Trig Point Charlie | Don't Get Lost

https://dontgetlost.wordpress.com/trig-point-charlie

Don't Get Lost. Promoting sustainable enjoyment of the countryside. This illustrated talk is a light-hearted look at how concrete blocks (Trig points) came to be built on so many of our hill tops. Audience feedback from previous presentations by Alastair: ‘engaging style’, ‘informative’ , ‘I learned something but it was amusing as well’. Here are some links which may be of interest after attending the session. Ou se trouve Londres? William Roy – the ‘founder’ of the Ordnance Survey. Fill in your details ...

Bronze Navigation awards for Limestone Journey volunteers | Don't Get Lost

https://dontgetlost.wordpress.com/2014/10/14/bronze-navigation-awards-for-limestone-journey-volunteers

Don't Get Lost. Promoting sustainable enjoyment of the countryside. Laquo; Lakes District never disappoints. Massive views in ‘le massif centrale’ of France. Bronze Navigation awards for Limestone Journey volunteers. I was delighted to spend 11 and 12 October with Jim, Elaine and Diane taking them through their National Navigation Awards. At Bronze level. They are all volunteer walk leaders with the Limestone Journeys. Using natural features (and then checking with the compass we had got it right.).

Don't Get Lost. Promoting sustainable enjoyment of the countryside. August 17, 2015. I was delighted to enjoy two fabulous weeks exploring the walking in the Austrian Tirol around the Leutasch valley . Local buses provided excellent transport to and from the walks, and we always found an ‘Alm’ to serve us coffee, lunch or that famous drink Almdudler. Spring walks in Tuscany – San Quirico d’Orcia. May 23, 2015. I led walks here last year for HF and the landscape and history never fail to enchant. This two...

the Art of Development: the art of writing

http://lauracrichton.blogspot.com/2010/04/art-of-writing.html

The Art of Development. Thursday, 29 April 2010. The art of writing. I was in Belgium this last weekend with a group of Europeans who all have an interest in adult learning, and in informal learning in particular. We spent a weekend living together, cooking together, walking, talking, using art and music - and learning together in the process. We were cut off from news during the 3 days and heard on our return that Alan Sillitoe had died at the weekend. He was quoted as saying. Something to aspire to!

BOYD – Case studies | Stirring Learning

BOYD – Case studies. B4RN, Broadband For the Rural North, is a project aiming to get connectivity in isolated rural areas. As part of this, they also organise training, on an informal basis, for local people. All the courses are planned and run by volunteers, normally on an ad-hoc basis. The biggest issue is connectivity. B4ARN have laid their own fibre to provide the main village with wireless broadband and also use WiBEs to achieve connectivity away from the wireless area. Bring Your Own (loan) Device.

Reflections on the Tunisian Revolution – one year on January 2012 | Stirring Learning

https://stirringlearning.wordpress.com/reflections-on-the-tunisian-revolution-one-year-on-january-2012

Reflections on the Tunisian Revolution – one year on January 2012. When I received a broadcast email seeking a French speaker to take on two days ‘train the trainer’ in Tunisia I thought it was worth pressing the reply button and sending my CV. This was only a few days before Christmas 2011, and to make a short story even shorter, within a week I had a contract and my flights were being booked. Along with the rest of the world, I had followed the story of president Ben Ali’s swift overthrow following a r...
