Washington island vacation rental. Tuesday, May 6, 2014. We made our first visit back to the island earlier than usual this year. We saw ice on the water and some snow still left on land. It was also very, very wet. Beautiful nonetheless. We went up early to get a head start on building a loft over the double bed in the children's room. Washington island vacation rental. Friday, January 20, 2012. This is the view from our shore. Bonfires. Roasted marshmallows. Favorite spot to watch the sun set. Path leading up from the shore. Path to the shore. The hammock overlooks the water but you are shaded beneath the cedars. Looking across to Detroit Island. So much wildlife to see. Front of our house. The huge deck is great for dining al fresco. Or sitting at our "bar" overlooking the water with a service window to the kitchen. We are #116 Judy.

Perhaps it is because we've had no snow this winter in Wisconsin that I'm feeling a little reminiscent of this particular winter on Washington Island. As we trudged along I watched the birds fly away and the water close up as quickly as it opened. As if it had never happened. Amazing. Thrilling. Blood pumping fun! The next morning we awoke to this.
