My Favorite Things: June 2013
http://christine-myfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
To create and inspire. Sunday, June 9, 2013. Collagraphy is one of my favorite techniques for creating interesting and unusual art. I used green and yellow gouache on the final image for interest. Lace, yarn, saran wrap or fine wire mesh can easily be molded to create interesting shapes or images. Collagraph, Fiddle Head Fern (Abstract Study). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). My Favorite Things: March 2014
http://christine-myfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
To create and inspire. Monday, March 31, 2014. Koh-I-Noor Woodless pencils and Acrylics. Below is an impromptu quick pencil sketch using Koh-I-Noor. Colored woodless pencils. These are an excellent medium for artists en plein air. Or those who enjoy quick in the moment sketches. The pencils work best on a smooth surface paper rather than rough. Here I drew on the textured side of Strathmore 140 lb. watercolor paper, but will use the smooth side on the next try. Acrylics (Liqutex student grade).

My Favorite Things: April 2012
http://christine-myfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
To create and inspire. Thursday, April 26, 2012. I enjoy experimenting with different techniques using ink. Here is my first attempt at "stippling" using a black Micron 08 pen. First I drew an almost invisible outline of the shells using an 4H pencil - - then I made small short periods and flecks with the pen point to produce the form and softly graded shadows. A really fun technique. Here's a photo of the still life shell arrangement I used. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Follow me on Pinterest.

My Favorite Things: May 2014
http://christine-myfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
To create and inspire. Sunday, May 4, 2014. Another color study with acrylics. Another quick painting using the student grade Liqutex Basics acrylics left over from the color class. I'm still on the fence about using acrylics but may try a class in the fall. My focus here was on color mixing, placement, value and complements. The image idea was derived from a landscape painting I found in an old Art Journal. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Follow me on Pinterest. Britt-Arnhild's House in the Woods.

My Favorite Things: August 2012
http://christine-myfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
To create and inspire. Thursday, August 9, 2012. I'm really not a "summer" person and dislike those hot days that leave me depleted and seemingly in a "daze." With that said, I have no excuses for allowing my blog to lapse into neverland. So I'll "summerize" the highlights of my summer thus far. I made this Romanian Apple Cake. Apple cake for my daughter-in-law's July birthday. Everyone loved it and my son asked that I make the same cake for his August birthday. A very nice day! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

My Favorite Things: Brush Strokes
http://christine-myfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2013/10/brush-strokes.html
To create and inspire. Wednesday, October 2, 2013. Claude Monet's "Waterlily - Details" could easily be interpreted as a painter's color palette. Here Monet uses what appears to be an almost dry paint brush to define the ebony lines and colored shapes that form the illusionary water lily leaves. With interesting placement of complementary color notes and value, Monet created a masterpiece. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Follow me on Pinterest. Britt-Arnhild's House in the Woods.

My Favorite Things: Mail Art
http://christine-myfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2013/07/mail-art.html
To create and inspire. Friday, July 5, 2013. One weekly lesson was an introduction to the history and development of "Mail Art" as an artistic genre. I was surprised to discover how the development of the modern postal system brought about an entirely new means of personal communication. Vincent Van Gogh's letter to his brother is an example of mail art. The drawing likely depicts a subject in a Van Gogh painting. Envelope made from junk mail. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
