DRAWINGS FROM NATURE: April 2015

https://drawingsfromnature-milly.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

About me and contact. Thursday, 30 April 2015. I had a nice surprise earlier this month as I was the winner of this lovely pack of fabr. Ic as a giveaway on Janet's blog. My other surprise was this butterfly in the house. I gently carried it outside to let it go, but not before I spent some time Capturing a drawing of her. I spent lots of enjoyable days with lovely views from my window as I quietly and slowly stitched it. When the sun set I would put it away again. Inside I have my finished sea quilt.

DRAWINGS FROM NATURE: Easter

https://drawingsfromnature-milly.blogspot.com/2015/04/easter_7.html

About me and contact. Tuesday, 7 April 2015. The sun is out and it is a beautiful day. I have been in the garden and the birds are singing so loud, they are enjoying the day too. I hope you all had a lovely Easter. When I had finished it I was really happy, I brought it downstairs to show the 'interested' husband. He actually likes me sewing, I am quiet for hours and hiding away with my sewing machine. Easter was the perfect time to make a hare bag. See you soon.Millyx. Tuesday, April 07, 2015. It is the...

DRAWINGS FROM NATURE: The first day of June

https://drawingsfromnature-milly.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-first-day-of-june.html

About me and contact. Tuesday, 2 June 2015. The first day of June. Today in the rain my first red poppy burst open. There are twelve big fat buds to go. It was my highlight of today to see that flower as the rain lashed against the windows. I took this photograph at 9pm last night. It was very dramatic with huge clouds building up ready for the stormy weather we experienced today. So the first day of June has certainly made its mark. And what of May? And another thing keeping me busy is the Lords and Lad...

My Favorite Things: June 2013

http://christine-myfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

To create and inspire. Sunday, June 9, 2013. Collagraphy is one of my favorite techniques for creating interesting and unusual art. I used green and yellow gouache on the final image for interest. Lace, yarn, saran wrap or fine wire mesh can easily be molded to create interesting shapes or images. Collagraph, Fiddle Head Fern (Abstract Study). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). My Favorite Things: March 2014

http://christine-myfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

To create and inspire. Monday, March 31, 2014. Koh-I-Noor Woodless pencils and Acrylics. Below is an impromptu quick pencil sketch using Koh-I-Noor. Colored woodless pencils. These are an excellent medium for artists en plein air. Or those who enjoy quick in the moment sketches. The pencils work best on a smooth surface paper rather than rough. Here I drew on the textured side of Strathmore 140 lb. watercolor paper, but will use the smooth side on the next try. Acrylics (Liqutex student grade).

My Favorite Things: April 2012

http://christine-myfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

To create and inspire. Thursday, April 26, 2012. I enjoy experimenting with different techniques using ink. Here is my first attempt at "stippling" using a black Micron 08 pen. First I drew an almost invisible outline of the shells using an 4H pencil - - then I made small short periods and flecks with the pen point to produce the form and softly graded shadows. A really fun technique. Here's a photo of the still life shell arrangement I used. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Follow me on Pinterest.

My Favorite Things: May 2014

http://christine-myfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

To create and inspire. Sunday, May 4, 2014. Another color study with acrylics. Another quick painting using the student grade Liqutex Basics acrylics left over from the color class. I'm still on the fence about using acrylics but may try a class in the fall. My focus here was on color mixing, placement, value and complements. The image idea was derived from a landscape painting I found in an old Art Journal. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Follow me on Pinterest. Britt-Arnhild's House in the Woods.

My Favorite Things: August 2012

http://christine-myfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

To create and inspire. Thursday, August 9, 2012. I'm really not a "summer" person and dislike those hot days that leave me depleted and seemingly in a "daze." With that said, I have no excuses for allowing my blog to lapse into neverland. So I'll "summerize" the highlights of my summer thus far. I made this Romanian Apple Cake. Apple cake for my daughter-in-law's July birthday. Everyone loved it and my son asked that I make the same cake for his August birthday. A very nice day! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

My Favorite Things: Brush Strokes

http://christine-myfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2013/10/brush-strokes.html

To create and inspire. Wednesday, October 2, 2013. Claude Monet's "Waterlily - Details" could easily be interpreted as a painter's color palette. Here Monet uses what appears to be an almost dry paint brush to define the ebony lines and colored shapes that form the illusionary water lily leaves. With interesting placement of complementary color notes and value, Monet created a masterpiece. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Follow me on Pinterest. Britt-Arnhild's House in the Woods.

My Favorite Things: Mail Art

http://christine-myfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2013/07/mail-art.html

To create and inspire. Friday, July 5, 2013. One weekly lesson was an introduction to the history and development of "Mail Art" as an artistic genre. I was surprised to discover how the development of the modern postal system brought about an entirely new means of personal communication. Vincent Van Gogh's letter to his brother is an example of mail art. The drawing likely depicts a subject in a Van Gogh painting. Envelope made from junk mail. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My Favorite Things: New Year . . . First Post

http://christine-myfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2014/02/new-year-first-post.html

To create and inspire. Friday, February 14, 2014. New Year . . . First Post. I've just returned from blogger sabbatical and here we are in mid-February. No excuses. . . just needing a bit of discipline and motivation to write something interesting. With that said . . . Beautiful and simple handmade Valentine for that special someone. Picasso Tan's Musée du Louvre

Picasso Tan's Musée du Louvre. Expect nothing but artwork of the lowest grade. Thursday, April 10, 2008. Top is RGB, Bottom is CMYK. Somehow when after i upload the CMYK version on to the blog the colour becomes distorted. Added some shadow to the Basketball picture to make the contour of the alphabets more obvious. New chosen level of abstraction. Removed all the buttons. As mentioned in the earlier post. What identifies the PSP is its ergonomic design. More importantly made the dog picture brighter too.

Kris Wiltse's Sketchbook

Wednesday, April 15, 2015. Broad Strokes: A Class Demo. A beautiful rainforest reference photo. This was done in three passes. A basic wet in wet, warm and cool variegated wash to start suggesting light around the trees and blue sky reflected on firs in the background. I see a rainbow of colors in this photo, so ended up with that. Tried to keep the foreground warm; cools recede, warms come forward. The first wash was about a #3 on the value scale. Give it go, see what you come up with! A number of thing...

Things I Make.

Thursday, 19 January 2012. I made it from blue shirts, pillowcases and sheets and mixed with some new fabrics. A lot of the fabric was recycled and some from the charity shops. I was pleased how it turned out. I also used my little pincushion I made with the Hare drawing on it. I stuffed it with some sheep wool I collected on the shore. The quilt was packed and posted and arrived safely at its destination. Where will it end up? Sunday, 19 September 2010. One day I will try a different sized star. It was ...
