Things I Make.

Thursday, 19 January 2012. I made it from blue shirts, pillowcases and sheets and mixed with some new fabrics. A lot of the fabric was recycled and some from the charity shops. I was pleased how it turned out. I also used my little pincushion I made with the Hare drawing on it. I stuffed it with some sheep wool I collected on the shore. The quilt was packed and posted and arrived safely at its destination. Where will it end up? Sunday, 19 September 2010. One day I will try a different sized star. It was ...

Things I Make.: My Blue Strip patchwork

http://drawingsfromnature.blogspot.com/2008/02/my-blue-strip-patchwork.html

Thursday, 28 February 2008. My Blue Strip patchwork. I made this little quilt with all the left over bits from other quilts. I cut them into 2 inch wide strips and sewed them together. It just sort of made itself, no real planning, but I do like the finished result. Lots of favourite fabrics from other projects all ending up together . Press on picture to enlarge, You will see my tacking stitches, as its not quite finished yet. It look's great Milly:). I love patchwork I already think about do one. I see...

Things I Make.: August 2009

http://drawingsfromnature.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, 13 August 2009. A little log cabin. I made this tiny log cabin quilt as my first attempt at this pattern. It has sixteen identical tiny squares which measure three inches square. I used one inch strips. The finished quilt measures about fifteen inches square. I would love to do a huge one for my bed, maybe one day. If I just do small things they get finished. Can you see any similarities to my drawings? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I promise to do lots of beautiful patchworks. A little log cabin.

Things I Make.: September 2010

http://drawingsfromnature.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, 19 September 2010. I made my patchwork star from a sample book of Sanderson prints. I had seen the stars in magazines and thought it would be fascinating to make one. Then I saw it in an old book I found in the charity shop, so I had to have a go. It took 60 triangles, sewed with a card backing. Three triangles were joined to make a pyramid, which therefore made 20 pyramids. I was thrilled to finish it and I loved the finished result. One day I will try a different sized star. Things I like. ...

DRAWINGS FROM NATURE: January 2015

https://drawingsfromnature-milly.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

About me and contact. Sunday, 18 January 2015. It has become chilly here with white toppings on the hill tops. I have had some nice winter walks, wrapped up well against the bitterly cold wind. I have been drawing a collection of objects I found on a walk. I picked each object up and wrapped them all in tissues I had in my pockets, then popped them in my jacket and hoped they survived intact. I knew I would enjoy recording the different textures, shapes and colours. Like the berries I picked today. And I...

DRAWINGS FROM NATURE: September 2014

https://drawingsfromnature-milly.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

About me and contact. Sunday, 28 September 2014. The hedgerows are full of blackberries, it has been such a good year for these lovely fruits. We went for a long walk and I took the chance to gather some before it is too late because they are ripening and will soon be past their best. They really do taste so delicious. A pretty butterfly sitting in the sunshine. Look at the glossy blackberries. And perhaps my true favourites are the Hawthorne berries hanging so delicate from the branches. And my other ob...

DRAWINGS FROM NATURE: November 2014

https://drawingsfromnature-milly.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

About me and contact. Monday, 24 November 2014. I really love wandering along the shore and scanning the ground and the sand banks to see what I can find. Of course it reflects the time of year with so many wind blown natural objects all mixed up with the sea treasures. After a high tide I collected a bag of finds. It has taken me a long time to finally complete this in the wide landscape A3 sketch book. The mussel shell with so many tints of pale colours was fun to try and capture. I remember pickin...

DRAWINGS FROM NATURE: The first day of June

https://drawingsfromnature-milly.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-first-day-of-june.html

About me and contact. Tuesday, 2 June 2015. The first day of June. Today in the rain my first red poppy burst open. There are twelve big fat buds to go. It was my highlight of today to see that flower as the rain lashed against the windows. I took this photograph at 9pm last night. It was very dramatic with huge clouds building up ready for the stormy weather we experienced today. So the first day of June has certainly made its mark. And what of May? And another thing keeping me busy is the Lords and Lad...

DRAWINGS FROM NATURE: March 2015

https://drawingsfromnature-milly.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

About me and contact. Sunday, 29 March 2015. Last night we changed our clocks to British Summertime. I am looking forward to the longer evenings. I have been enjoying lots of late afternoon walks. It is such a lovely time to go just before the sun sets. All the birds are singing and high up in the trees the rooks are building their nests. I am happy to say the first bright sunshine flowers have appeared along the hedgerows, the lesser Celandines. I picked a few and had fun capturing the flower and le...

DRAWINGS FROM NATURE: May 2014

https://drawingsfromnature-milly.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

About me and contact. Saturday, 24 May 2014. I am sitting watching the birds and they have been looking at my window watching and waiting for me to give them their usual scraps. We have two brown blackbirds with spotted chests, young birds that are getting really tame. The photographer managed it. I have been collecting other shells, snail shells from on my walks. I love it when the brown outer skin peels away and blue and grey patterns appear. They seem to be everywhere and I have to stop myself...Then ...
