Going Back to China. So maybe my last post was a little unfair. Or a lot. I have also found that my 4 favorite phrases do not work as well in America. I am referring to those four phrases that can help one evade any social situation (almost):. I have friends waiting for me.". I am a little busy.". That's not convenient.". I have something to do.". I have friends waiting for me," I say to a friend in Seattle. The response? What friends, what are their names? Where are you meeting them? We certainly don't ...

Dustin in China: Little Injustices

Usually traveling is both fun and informative. Trains are the perfect place for conversation due to the family-style seating arrangement and the freedom to walk around. I have had some of my most in-depth conversations on trains, transcending the basic questions like, "How old are you? And "How much money do you make? I'll just have those instant noodles," I said, giving the waitress 5 yuan and looking for the boiling water. It's outside," she said. Ok - I can just eat in here, right? I filled up my bowl...

Posted by Concerned Citizen. The students file in after calling to me through my open front door. "Can we come in? They ask, arms laden with vegetables and a large bag of rice. Half of the students find their way to the kitchen and start preparing dinner, while the others bombard me with questions about my apartment, "who lives in this other room? They wonder. "Why didn't you make your bed? Does it seem strange that my students love to come over and cook dinner at my apartment? Everything seems to fall i...

Commissioned piece done of the legend, Louis Armstrong. Piece done of Vic Mensa. Experimenting with some stubble / shading techniques. Chance The Rapper. I guess this piece is sort of synonymous with the previous post. Had to redo one of him. Hands down one of my favourite artists. Decided to whip this up in light of the premiere of Better Call Saul. Figured this should be the next one. Perhaps a new series of rap duos is coming. First in my Game of Thrones series of illustrations. You've Got Red On You.

If I keep holding out. Will the light shine through. Under this broken roof. Its only rain that I feel. Ive been wishing out the days. Ohh ohh oh come back. I have been planning out. All that I'd say to you. Since you slipped away. Know that I still remain true. Ive been wishing out the days. Please say that if you hadnt gone now. I wouldnt have lost you another way. From wherever you are. Ohhhh ohh ohh oh oh come back. And these days they linger on. And in the night ive been waiting for. I go to sleep.
