Dwellers Tech Musings: Raspberry Pi and the HD PVR.. streaming and recording, Part II

http://dwellertech.blogspot.com/2013/06/raspberry-pi-and-hd-pvr-streaming-and.html

Thoughts on tech things, geekery and other stuff with 9v dc. Sunday, 2 June 2013. Raspberry Pi and the HD PVR. streaming and recording, Part II. Finally got to the bottom of the drop outs / glitches. Some were my fault in the code, some were due to a dodgy cable feeding the HD PVR from the set top box. With the replacement cable in place, I had it stream for 12 hours straight with no reported dropouts. that's close to a record for this unit =). Ok, if you're reading the code, they are arrays, not lists, ...

Thoughts on tech things, geekery and other stuff with 9v dc. Sunday, 28 July 2013. Raspberry Pi and the HD PVR. streaming and recording, Part III. It's been a little under 2 months since I posted last, and I've been busy working on a new build of the code, with a web interface, and other such useful things. I kept meaning to post about it, but kept going back to add yet another little tweak. So, finally, it's time to release the latest version! Read on to find out how to use it. The repository is at :.

Dwellers Tech Musings: March 2012

http://dwellertech.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Thoughts on tech things, geekery and other stuff with 9v dc. Thursday, 29 March 2012. Reading the Sky Planner. Easy one this. Press Guide, then Green, and Hey Presto you are at your planner. Just use the old Mark One Eyeball to make sense of all that data. After youve written down the content of your planner a few times, youll realise that a) its dull, and b) its very dull. The solution is obviously to automate it. but how? Tuesday, 27 March 2012. WHS: The referenced account is locked out. My current Med...

Dwellers Tech Musings: February 2012

http://dwellertech.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Thoughts on tech things, geekery and other stuff with 9v dc. Tuesday, 7 February 2012. Converting all my Amiga Disks. The time has come to finally get rid of all my 3.5DD floppy disks. they are taking up valuable cupboard space that I need back for shinier and more recent items. I know that some. 160;of them have data on that Id like to keep, source I wrote back in the late 80s / early 90s. midi files, soundtracker / octamed tunes. The problem is figuring out which disks. Dwellers Tech Musings: Raspberry Pi and the HD PVR.. coping with dropouts..

http://dwellertech.blogspot.com/2013/05/raspberry-pi-and-hd-pvr-coping-with.html

Thoughts on tech things, geekery and other stuff with 9v dc. Sunday, 19 May 2013. Raspberry Pi and the HD PVR. coping with dropouts. The HD PVR is a great bit of kit, but it does have one slight drawback. it's either lazy, or it's easily distracted ;p You request data from it. and wheee. it comes back in nice h264 format, great you think, and go make a cup of tea, bake some cookies, etc. and come back to find the recording just. stopped? I think I'll rebuild the code a little further still to add a simpl...

Dwellers Musical Stuff: Simple Reaper Setup to get started..

http://dwellertunes.blogspot.com/2013/07/simple-reaper-setup-to-get-started.html

The ramblings of an auditory amateur. Wednesday, 31 July 2013. Simple Reaper Setup to get started. A quick post to help people who haven't used Reaper before get setup at least far enough to do some basic recording / noodling and fx. Probably all pretty straightforward stuff. but might be useful if you haven't messed with PC based music for a long while and now have a shiny modern PC sitting there looking a bit bored. Step 1 : Get Reaper. Order a pizza and celebrate. Step 2 : Get ASIO4ALL v2. So we'll be...

Dwellers Musical Stuff: Doctor Who, 10k+ and more..

http://dwellertunes.blogspot.com/2012/04/doctor-who-10k-and-more.html

The ramblings of an auditory amateur. Monday, 2 April 2012. Doctor Who, 10k and more. Back last may, I'd finally decided that I'd try putting up some of my piano playing online, so I mashed around a little in C minor, which has long been a favorite place to play in, and found the Doctor Who. Recording isn't easy, once that little red LED is on, you become hyper-conscious that everything you do this. Except now, there are. A site which has a pretty decent reader count. And because reading a Floppy is ...

Dwellers Mad Costume Design: May 2011

http://dwellerdesign.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Dwellers Mad Costume Design. The not so serious glance into how Dweller thinks up costumey ideas. Saturday, 21 May 2011. Here we have Office Harley, or should that be Casino Harley? I guess it depends if she wears a top under that jacket or not. This one has the red/black split where its expected, a straight skirt and jacket replaces the traditional cat suit, and the collar is shrunken so as not to overpower the jacket. Its one of the few designs that dont involve gloves, and has no head piece. The main ...

Dwellers Musical Stuff: On sequencers.. and sequencing..

http://dwellertunes.blogspot.com/2011/07/on-sequencers-and-sequencing.html

The ramblings of an auditory amateur. Sunday, 24 July 2011. On sequencers. and sequencing. I've been playing with Music and Computers for a long while now. for me, the journey started with an Amiga, with a serial port Midi interface. For many others it was an Atari ST, but regardless, that midi port is fast becoming the only connector that still has widespread use now, over twenty years on. Where does this leave me? Dwellers Mad Costume Design: Very Dotty Bird

http://dwellerdesign.blogspot.com/2012/02/very-dotty-bird.html

Dwellers Mad Costume Design. The not so serious glance into how Dweller thinks up costumey ideas. Wednesday, 8 February 2012. My first attempt at drawing a LadyBird outfit didn't go too well. Just because you can have red with black dots, and black with red dots, doesn't mean every surface should have both ;p. This design was useful though, just to help me realize I wasn't a fan of those Disney style puffball shoulders. Same for the black petticoat (although without the PVC). View my complete profile.

Dwellers Tech Musings

Thoughts on tech things, geekery and other stuff with 9v dc. Wednesday, 13 August 2014. 1 year. no updates. eek. So I sign in today, to be greeted by Blogspot telling me I've been awol for an entire year. Zoinks! The good news is things are now settling down here, and I'm hoping soon to get back into working on the Pi HD PVR code, and have a play around with some new shinies acquired this side of the pond. Expect normal infrequent blog updates to resume in the nearish future! Sunday, 11 August 2013.
