Life from my point of view

Sunday, March 13, 2011. This past week significant progress was made on our training center facility roof trusses. Although “significant” is likely a relative term since our realities are not what they are. In the developed world, but we are grateful for progress. This week both Rick and Bob shared in the weeks’ morning devotions and a story Bob shared really seemed to make an impact. Rock, our local Mozambican team laughed and laughed! Sunday, December 5, 2010. Lynn and I enjoyed a wonderful 7 days on t...

Life from my point of view: November 2010

http://dwightlagore.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Saturday, November 6, 2010. Maturity comes with age. 8220;…but sometimes age comes all alone” says John Maxwell. My prayer is that maturity is coming with age, but I can see why I could really appreciate the idealism of youth. I remember when I was a little younger challenging my co-pastors (most with a fair amount of maturity than I) that “you don’t need million dollar buildings to build Christ’s Church. The first century church never did build buildings, they built people! Well he was right J. S Stone ...

Life from my point of view: September 2009

http://dwightlagore.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, September 6, 2009. Our hardship at the start of our 9 day tour was somewhat less this time around as we had the privilege of driving across the brand spanking new bridge over the Zambezi river. Thankfully I found a side road tire place in Mutarara that was able to do a makeshift fix which gave us at least the peace of mind of a back up tire. Although the ride certainly was not comfortable, I think it was the vehicle that had to endure the most hardship! Pastor Elias with the Baue Orphan program.

Life from my point of view: Thank you!

http://dwightlagore.blogspot.com/2010/10/thank-you.html

Sunday, October 31, 2010. On the eve of their thank you evening I prepared a video to thank them that did not turn out so well due to software problems and no quick fixes out here in the bush. But I feel it is important to get the word out about the big difference these people make because they work together doing something fairly simple.asking for sponsorship from friends and walking. George Bernard Shaw says, “The worst sin towards our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent t...

Life from my point of view: June 2010

http://dwightlagore.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, June 26, 2010. Moves and the Moon. Although we have been back in Africa for almost three weeks already, it still feels like we arrived yesterday. In fact, it took until yesterday for Lynn and I to get our suitcases unpacked here in Mozambique. I was glad for the ease of the flight back, because I had to recover from the engine start earlier that morning! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Life from my point of view. View my complete profile. Mercy Air: Update 24th May 15

http://mercyair-sa.blogspot.com/2015/05/update-24th-may-2015.html

Wings of love to people in need. Update 24th May 15. One of our highlights is taking people back to their village with restored health following a medevac. One week after we brought out little Akimo, hanging onto life by a thread, we took him and his mum back to their village of Nkonde. A week of malaria treatment and care has restored this little guy’s life. Plus, I did another 3 medevacs this week. Government vaccination campaign week. Hundreds turned out in many villages. Dean and Kaylene for the Merc...

...Tales of Life in Mozambique: The start of 2014

http://lynnlagore.blogspot.com/2014/01/the-start-of-2014.html

Tales of Life in Mozambique. Saturday, January 25, 2014. The start of 2014. Nasty enough for me. One of our stops on one of our trips between SA and Moz was at Messina just south of Zimbabwe. We "climbed" a rock. As you can see, I did it in flip flops so probably can't officially be classified as climbing. It's a unique part of the country and is full of Baobabs and rock outcrops. It's also HOT there. To add to our Christmas and New Year's celebrations, we also celebrated the first landing of the Cessna ...

Mercy Air: Update 7th June 15

http://mercyair-sa.blogspot.com/2015/06/update-7-june-15.html

Wings of love to people in need. Update 7th June 15. The village of Molicholo continues to welcome the Bible teaching program very enthusiastically. Large numbers of people continue to meet with each visit and engage in intelligent question asking and learning. Pray this will continue. In pain and barely able to move for 2 weeks with a huge, rapidly growing. Abscess on his liver. With a hastily constructed stretcher, friends carried Armando 25 minutes to the helicopter. Everyone wants to have a go! Dwigh...

Mercy Air: March 2015

http://mercyair-sa.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Wings of love to people in need. Update 29th March 15 Rampa Baptism. We are back up in the Zambezi – great to be here. The new helicopter is going great and such a bonus to have the extra seat (pilot plus sixpassengers) and extra power. Even in these hot conditions, it hauls out seven people and a good load without a gasp. As the place they were baptized is crocodile country! They all came out smiling. A 30 minute walk to where there is water deep enough to baptise . . . OK – who will be first? Each hous...

Mercy Air: November 2014

http://mercyair-sa.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Wings of love to people in need. ASAM school bridge dedication. Recently Mercy Air completed another flight to ASAM in Mozambique. Again this was a multi purpose trip as we also took John and Helen, visiting from a church in the UK, as well as Paul, a videographer, who was making a film about the work of Mercy Air and ASAM. The dedication was set for the last full day so after a tour of the mission it was off to the first clinic. Cathy was also there to lend a hand. Cathy helped them make name tags.

Mercy Air: May 2014

http://mercyair-sa.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Wings of love to people in need. Recently Mercy Air's collaboration with ASAM in Mozambique continued as plans were drawn up to construct a much needed bridge. Crocodile Dundee' aka Rick Neufeld with the community team and a 2 metre crocodile. To date, even without knowing the cost of this project, 11 individuals, 3 churches and 1 business have generously donated over $27,000.00! From right to left: Tony, Allan, Sjaak, and Dwight. After a much needed quick lunch, they headed straight to the bridge site.

Mercy Air: June 2015

http://mercyair-sa.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Wings of love to people in need. Update 15th Jun 15. At the 'new' village of. People won’t travel 5km to the nearest health centre because of the very real danger of crocs where they must cross the river. While mums bring their children for vaccination and the medical team do consultations and wound care – many men of the village sit around the local distillery drinking. This is their 'still' for brewing alcohol from sugar cane. In great pain, being carried to the helicopter by her mum. Update 7th June 15.
