Living With DMD - Not The End. Put simply, this blog is a chronicle of living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). Sunday, February 20, 2011. 43 Years Of Kicking DMD's Arse! After getting positioned in my wheelchair, one of the RNs came in and put a cardboard crown on my head. It was similar to the one you used to get at Burger King. I'm not sure if they still have them. Anyhow, the banner on my portable ventilator soon became my sash. I was king for a day minus the power one wields. I've spent a good...

Sunday, March 28, 2010. I've been awaiting a response on my journalism school application and last Wednesday I received a long white envelope in the mail from the university. My heart was racing as my nurse opened the envelope and began reading. She started saying something about congratulations and I let out a yell. I sat stunned in my van while learning I'll be an official journalism student this fall! I can't thank you enough. Saturday, March 13, 2010. A couple weeks ago we were given probably the har...

It has taken weeks of planning and research to get to this point but the wait has been worth it. You may be wondering how this is possible. Well here’s my setup. There are a few people I have to thank for making this all possible. Dick at Conceptus Remote Switches. For letting me demo the bite switch. Scott Sands. School has gotten off to a quick start. It’s hard to believe that two weeks are...Student...

Thursday, July 08, 2010. Life here in Missoula has slowed down after summer school wrapped and I've started enjoying summertime. Monday, August 31, 2009. The sip and puff pole was in for repair so I didn't make an attempt. The good news is that Montech is working at getting in a switch operated automatic rod and reel setup. I can't wait to give it a test drive when it comes in. Thanks to the folks at Summit and Montech for their efforts at making this outing possible. Monday, August 24, 2009. Grand Rapids has a Skyline!
Grand Rapids has a Skyline! 09 July, 2010. After a year of paying Apple to host my blog, I am back to the realm of free posting. Cash wasted, lesson learned. My return to the blogspot comes on the heels of our return from vacation. We left the computers at home and spent the week on Mackinac Island and in Traverse City. I have to say I didn't miss the constant connection to the world. I was able to relax and enjoy my family. 30 April, 2009. The blog has moved to our new family website. 24 April, 2009.
Here's a thought...
Thursday, November 15, 2007. Three years ago, I was part of a team that went to Mongolia to see the work of World Vision and the programs that our church was helping sponsor. Many of you helped with my expenses and from the left-over funds we purchased a "Ger" (a traditional dwelling) for a needy Mongolian family through World Vision's "gift-a-ger" program. I pray you and your family are well, and that you will focus on those things for which you can be thankful in the days that lead us to Thanksgiving.
