Get rid of that beer gut. Pre Work Out Tips. September 14, 2011. Get off the couch. Before you begin your work out, make sure you have a light meal with protein and carbohydrates. Carbohydrates will give you an extra boost of energy. One of my personal pre work out routines is drinking a latte. The caffeine from the coffee wakes me up and gives me a burst of energy and I gain protein from the milk! If you feel dizzy or light headed, consult your doctor before exercising.
