http://pjdeye.blogspot.com/2014/04/american-bitternblack-crowned-night.html
BIRD CALLS and SONGS. Recordings and sonagrams of the bird sounds of eastern North America and the UK. Friday, April 4. American Bittern/Black-crowned Night-Heron nocturnal call comparison. A couple of nights ago I recorded this sequence of an American Bittern and Black-crowned Night-Heron calling together as they flew over my house (2.04am, early Apr, PA). Bittern on left, night-heron on right. These calls from the Macaulay Library were at a breeding colony and are not typical nocturnal flight calls.

I thought this super close up of it's talons was worth some extra cropping. Harris's Sparrow, a rarish winter visitor to Canon City. Pair of Americ...

Dedicated to the enjoyment and conservation of birds and nature. Wednesday, May 20, 2015. And there have been less than 10 reported this spring in Colorado. I also saw a number of Wood-pewees (mostly silent so I was hopeful one might be an Eastern) and 2 Olive-sided Flycatchers- but I will post about those tomorrow. SeEtta. Birds and Nature: Plumbeous Vireo, first of the year in Canon City
http://birdsandnature.blogspot.com/2015/05/plumbeous-vireo-first-of-year-in-canon.html
Dedicated to the enjoyment and conservation of birds and nature. Saturday, May 2, 2015. Plumbeous Vireo, first of the year in Canon City. I spotted this Plumbeous Vireo as it foraged along the Canon City Riverwalk this morning. I watched it actively foraging for about 15 minutes and it did so quietly for the first 10 minutes. It was pretty successful in finding insects to feed on. Sorry I chopped off it's bill in pic below. SeEtta. This is a Flickr badge showing items in a set called SoTexasBirdingTrip.

Dedicated to the enjoyment and conservation of birds and nature. Thursday, February 19, 2015. Visit from two Tundra Swans. We rarely get swans of any type in the Canon City area, the last were a few years ago. So it was nice to hear that a local birder had found two at the Holcim Wetlands just east of Florence. Thought I was photographing swans landing so was surprised to find this Canada Goose had photo-bombed on of the pics. Sunday, February 15, 2015. Young Golden Eagles practicing flying maneuvers.
