The Salted Cod: The Mighty Loaf
http://thesaltedcod.blogspot.com/2008/12/mighty-loaf.html
Christmas was very laid back this year, but I did find one small gift under the old tree. I got this very interesting dough rising basket called a brotform from Germany. After the first rise or proof you punch down the dough and place the ball in this well floured brotform for the final proofing. The dough rises around the brotform canes giving your bread a really cool design similar to a floury crop circle. The bread recipe I used is the most basic sourdough recipe available from King Arthur Flour.

The Salted Cod: Here is our Share! Week 12
http://thesaltedcod.blogspot.com/2007/08/here-is-our-share-week-12.html
Here is our Share! Starting at the top from left to right: arugula, mizuna, celery, corn, potatoes, cherry tomatoes. The scent was so thick in the air you could smell it on your clothes and hair the next day; a delicious combination of smokey, sweet and spicy. We are trying to think of what a true New England scent would be to represent summer. Maybe low tide or rotting cod from the fisherman’s catch. Anyway, back to week 12:. Week 12 is all about corn chowder! We made LOTS of corn chowder…. Join our gro...

The Salted Cod: Waiting for the dough to rise.
http://thesaltedcod.blogspot.com/2008/11/waiting-for-dough-to-rise.html
Waiting for the dough to rise. I just picked up a great book called Ultimate Bread. By Eric Treuille. Ultimate Bread is very straight forward, with great photography of each step involved. I've been meaning to try to make bagels for quite some time and their recipe is fast and easy. 2 Tsp Dried yeast. 1 1/2 Tbs sugar. 1 1/2 Tsp Salt. 1 Sprinkle the yeast and sugar into 100ml of the water in a bowl. Leave four 5 minutes and then stir to dissolve. 6 Knock back the dough, then leave to rest for 10 minutes.

Your Boston Food Blog, Well Done. Thursday, December 11, 2008. The Hungry Heart knows that he eventually has to pay the piper. And so do you if you plan on eating street fare. Below you'll find calorie estimates for eight of the foods that I've blogged so far. Curiously, I couldn't find any hard data for doughboys. Maybe that's by design, and maybe ignorance is bliss. Wednesday, December 10, 2008. Armando and Francisco serve great burritos at the Herrera’s. Stand in Downtown Crossing. About Herrera's....

Cave Cibum: Kale and Brussels Sprouts Salad
http://cavecibum.blogspot.com/2014/11/kale-and-brussels-sprouts-salad.html
Beware the food (KAH-way KEY-bum). Tuesday, November 11, 2014. Kale and Brussels Sprouts Salad. The thing about the online food world is that the seasons are marked by recipes. The current recipe perfect for fall that's on just about every site there is? Kale and Brussels Sprout Salad. I have seen versions of this recipe in my email, on twitter, on gorgeous pictures on Pinterest for days and days. The more I saw, the more I wanted to eat it myself. I guess I'm pretty susceptible to advertising, then.

Cave Cibum: Taking "Cave Cibum" a Little Too Literally
http://cavecibum.blogspot.com/2014/11/taking-cave-cibum-little-too-literally.html
Beware the food (KAH-way KEY-bum). Sunday, November 2, 2014. Taking "Cave Cibum" a Little Too Literally. Are you surprised to see a new post here? Truth be told, I got a little burned out with this project for a while, and when I finally had new things to write about, I wasn't too excited to actually follow through. But enough of my family has guilt-tripped me into writing again, so I guess you have them to blame for this (*cough*Berj*cough*). No one can pronounce Cave Cibum! I won't bore you with the de...

A blog about food and beverage. Mostly about meals prepared at home. Sometimes feedback on restaurants or food experiences in general. New Favorite Vegetable Side-Dish! Despite the fact that it was 80 degrees yesterday in Boston, Summer is over. Jess and I had a great season in Provincetown. The weather was great this year. I was ready to return to normal life, though. I always enjoy the change of seasons. I have also really missed my kitchen. Sunday, October 07, 2007. 2 tablespoons olive oil. 1 cup fres...

Boston Chomps: Beijing: Dong Hua Men Night Market
http://bostonchomps.blogspot.com/2008/12/beijing-dong-hua-men-night-market.html
Chomp chomp chomping at restaurants around New England. Friday, December 26, 2008. Beijing: Dong Hua Men Night Market. Dong Hua Men night market was featured on a couple travel shows including Samantha Brown and Bizarre foods so naturally I had to make a trip to see what all the fuss is about. I'm not sure how I planned to get there since I had no clue where it was and I am clueless when it comes to directions :P. I do bring photos of the weird and bizzare however. Sea Urchin and Crabs? I can't really ra...
