eating grief: September 2010
http://eatinggrief.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
WIDEWE (Old English): Be Empty. Tuesday, September 21, 2010. At a recent neighborhood picnic, several neighbors expressed ecstasy about the sunsets that could be seen from our homes. I notice, sometimes. As I occasionally acknowledge trees, birds, but never sunrises, not if I can help it. Which makes me wonder where my mind is most of the time, and where I want it to be, and when will sunsets matter again. Links to this post. Sunday, September 12, 2010. Sweet Rich is gone. I can say this a thousand t...
eating grief: choices
http://eatinggrief.blogspot.com/2011/02/choices.html
WIDEWE (Old English): Be Empty. Thursday, February 24, 2011. Two days ago, I realized something remarkable. I am facing choices now, and they are not between "worse" and "worser." They all have an emotional price, but none are about death. But now I have committed myself to developing a new community where, along with about 45 others, I will be living as soon as it is complete. Remaining here is now bearable because I know it is temporary. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.
eating grief: July 2010
http://eatinggrief.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
WIDEWE (Old English): Be Empty. Monday, July 26, 2010. Last week I returned, for the first time in about four months, to the local hospice-sponsored bereavement group. This is a drop-in gathering, meeting twice a month, no reservations required. A friend dubbed this a "bereave-in," a "love-in" for those who have lost, and inevitably are lost. How can it help, he wondered, to wander among those equally sad at their map-lessness? Two hours later, did I know where I was? Links to this post. The article was ...

WIDEWE (Old English): Be Empty. Thursday, February 10, 2011. If you have been suffering from metaphor deprivation, you have come to the right place. A few weeks ago, backing out of my driveway, I forgot a small thing. To look. Which, normally, would not be a problem on this low-traffic street. But at that moment a big brown UPS truck was making a delivery at. I called him, we met, I thanked him. I filed a report with the police, and within an hour I had photos, the hit-and-run driver had been issued ...
eating grief: June 2010
http://eatinggrief.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
WIDEWE (Old English): Be Empty. Wednesday, June 30, 2010. We met at a conference a week ago. Almost from the beginning, I knew. The eyes. They gave away the secret of loss, even as we began talking about other matters. He was 13 months out since the death of his wife, and we both knew that only one subject was important to us. For now, I can't argue. All the evidence says he is right, while I hold onto a future existence that may be only fantasy. Facade, I said. He nodded. I didn't have to explain. Retur...

Eating Greener | More colourful than you'd think!
More colourful than you'd think! October 9, 2013. Some searching led me to this straightforward recipe. For veggie stuffed tomatoes. Preferring something that packs a bit more protein and cuts some of the refined carbs, I modified it to include yellow split peas and oats (and skipped the parmesan cheese, although if I make it again for company, I’d add some as a treat and extra touch). Here’s what I came up with:. 1/4 cup yellow split peas, dry. 1/4 tsp basil (or 3-4 fresh leaves, thinly sliced). I liked...

Eating Green for Life Blog. My Brother's Awesome Blog. August 19, 2010, 7:36 pm. Ingredient Note: English cucumbers are longer than most cucumbers. They don’t have the waxy outside an they also don’t have many seeds. They are perfect for salad use because you don’t have to peel them or remove the seeds. You can use 3 normal cucumbers if you can’t find English cucumbers. Just make sure to peel them and remove the seeds by spooning out the insides. Servings: 8 or more. 1/4 cup white wine vinegar. Sometimes...
