Everybody needs a hobby. Monday, 15 June 2015. The photo looks very sparse and severe but these blondies weren't at all. I tend to be a bit late with getting on board with trends. Perhaps because I don't watch television or listen to the radio, I'm less exposed to advertising and general pop culture hype. I don't think I miss out on much but just today I finally caught on to a trend that I am a bit miffed for being to late for. And below are my notes from making it for the first time. 113g butter, melted.

For some reason, today I imagined while getting up, cutting up a fresh flatbread and coat it with a thick layer of Kaymak and Honey.". Insane in the Kitchen. The recipe that came with the sentence was also lovely, a soft dough fragrant with olive oil, only a single 45 minute proof, and the satisfying balance of using an egg white in the dough and its yolk as a glaze.

Everybody needs a hobby. Wednesday, 14 October 2015. Buckwheat granola with frozen berries, atop overnight oats. I recently tried buckwheat groats / kasha. I often snack on this granola on its own, and it also adds a delightful crunch sprinkled atop a bowl of overnight oats or yogurt. 2 cups of raw buckwheat groats. 25c add-ins (nuts, seeds, coconut flakes). 1tsp vanilla extract (the original recipe says ground ginger). 1 ripe banana, mashed. 2Tb oil (if using coconut oil, make sure it is melted first).

On grey and drizzly autumn days like today, there is nothing better than a cup of tea and a warm, butter-slathered bun. I am convinced that this combination is much better suited to autumn than the traditional season of spring. Jerusalem artichoke/sunchoke flowers from a sunnier day. Late night hot cross bun-baking. Adapted from Chelsea Sugar. 2Tb of olive oil or coconut oil.
