Grays in the Shade. Northerners head south…. As I mentioned in a previous post, after our sister and brother-in-law left we had another set of fun visitors in for a week from Iowa. Lucky for us they had been reading about the Mayan ruins at Lamanai. We caught the first water taxi at 7 AM and traveled about an hour by car from Belize City to the New River. Lamanai means “submerged crocodile”. It was a Mayan City that was continuously occupied for over 3000 years. As I posted here. New River in the Rain.

The work was not going to be so extensive but when we started opening things up we found a lot of termite and rot damage and much of the wood we hoped to salvage had to go.
