Hi I have just signed up and I am just checking if this works. October 8, 2008 at 1:34 PM. This child is at the very beginning of learning about fraction (year 1/2)She understands that fractions mean a part of a whole but does not have any concept of how many parts one third is or that they must be equal in size.

Maybe he is thinking of MAB block tens where if you divided 30 by 3(tens) then the answer would be 3(tens), if that makes sense lol Either that or he's just confusing his units because he does seem to have a sound understanding as Robyn states.
