October 19, 2008 at 6:39 PM. Adrians representation on one third is not accurate, as the shadded part is not equal to the others. Also being shadded in different colours and not just one block colour confuses me and make me thing he does see that whole part fothe circle as one. Does that make sense? Pete seems to understand the concept of 1/3 in the diagrams he drew. However, when he tries to explain the concept in words, he struggles. He mixes up 1/3 with quarters and halves, which suggest he has not fully attained a sound knowledge on this area. October 19, 2008 at 11:16 AM. I dont think Pete gets it. It seems that Amanda struggles with the concept of a third with numbers other than three. The first three examples she gives are all showing 1/3 of a group of three, however the other examples show 2/5 instead of 2/6.
