EDTECH 504: Module 2 Reflection

http://edtech504soshaughnessy.blogspot.com/2010/02/module-2-reflection.html

Monday, February 8, 2010. Module 2 has given me great insight in the many types of theories that exist in education. I must admit that I was not familiar with all of them but through this module I have increased my knowledge. I wist to first address the objectives from Module 2. 1) What is the difference between a theory, model, and framework. Model: An ideal example that demonstrates the procedure, idea, or concept in which others can use to replicate and achieve similar results. Constructivism focuses ...

Sunday, February 21, 2010. What I learned form the reading:. M03 - Reading: Heylighen. In this reading I learned about epsitemology. I am embarrassed to say that I didn't know what this was at the start of this module. However I have learned that epistemology is the study of knowledge. This article discusses some of the theories of epistemology including that of famous philosophers Plato and Aristotle. The article also mentions memetic which I added to the glossary during this module. M03 - Reading: Dede.

The article supports these ideas by discussing them more indepth including how the brain is wired and how the brain changes after learning. I thought it was super interesting to see how in some studies with rats that the weight and thickness of the brain changed just by exploring/learning opportunities. Crazy! Tuesday, April 6, 2010. M06 - Reading: Kanuka. Using Constructivism In Technology. Learning activities need to be authentic and designed in a way to develop metacoginitive skills. Instruction should be presented in a sequence from simple to complex. Educators need to tend to the individuals process. Educators should not impose on the learners a particular way to learn. Lessons should give problem solving opportunities. M06 - Reading: Woodard. Technology and Constructivist Learning Environment. In this ar...
