Just another WordPress.com weblog. Wikipedia – Friend or Foe? Wikipedia, a free, online version of the encyclopedia, allows the viewer the ability to edit retract or add information on any given topic. This feature has caused quite a stir in the academic community and raised the question: with the ability to edit, change or even fabricate; can Wikipedia be considered reputable? It is my strong opinion that Wikipedia cannot be eliminated from use in education. On January 19, 2010 at 8:30 pm Comments (1).

Just another WordPress.com weblog. Cyber School as Alternative School. There is a new school in Detroit trying an alternate means of educating scholastically troubled youth. This school has recognized that not all students learn the same – nor do they learn in the same environment. Particular attention has been given to the idea that performance in the standard classroom is not always an indicator of student success or possible achievement. It is my sincere hope that this new approach to educating our yo...

Just another WordPress.com weblog. Ed Tech Video – Joe’s Non-Netbook. This hilarious video is poking fun at the idea of traditional learning (i.e. from a book) versus online learning. The students are viewing their lesson in a textbook and are trying to enlarge photos, click on images, search for blue hyperlinks on items they’d like more information about and a host of other options that would not be available offline. And just think. . .parents may never again pay for a lost text book. At-Risk Students ...
