A (not-so) civilized rant about all things related to public education (with a generous heaping of whatever else spews forth) in this US (of A). Wednesday, February 4, 2009. I can't make a living on 500K"- a message to the whiners. Long story short: If I have to read about one more Wall Street whiner who is pissed because he or she didn't get the usual annual bonus, I am going to scream. I will probably blow a vessel if one more complains about $500K salary caps. The folks on Wall Street claim they deser...

The Edubabbler: Segregated proms in a "post-racial" USA

A (not-so) civilized rant about all things related to public education (with a generous heaping of whatever else spews forth) in this US (of A). Sunday, May 24, 2009. Segregated proms in a "post-racial" USA. When Obama ran to be the democratic nominee for the US Presidency, many asked if it was the end of black racial politics. When he was nominated as the Democratic candidate, won the election in 2008, some people (like conservative Dinesh D'Souza) claimed that racism in the USA was over. This, in my mi...

If you do nothing else today, read this. I was doing me usual hanging out on the internet while waiting for the washer to finish its cycle, and came across this. Monday, April 14, 2008. The Insanity that is TESTING. I would like to take a moment and vent, not at the validity of the test, or why testing is bad, or even the ridiculousness of NCLB. But on actual tasting. Procedures. Has anyone else had the "testing security" meeting yet? If not, here are my top 4 insane testing security moments that you can look forward to hearing:. LuisBlog: Writing Standards
http://luis-henriques.blogspot.com/2008/04/writing-standards.html
Wednesday, April 23, 2008. While completing the CCCS Project more questions as to who is writing them come into my mind. The standards vary greatly from subject to subject. The way they are written and what is expected of students. As I realize why American classrooms need standards, there is another question. Where is the accountability on schools, administrators and teachers together, that the standards are being followed? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Http:/ edubabbler.blogspot.com.

Thursday, April 17, 2008. I have a trip scheduled for early May. When I planned this trip I was just planning, I was not thinking about connecting it to learning. When one of our classmates brought up the kindergarten trip for harvest, I began to reflect on our class trip. What I think is funny is that this trip had to approved by my VP, assistant superintendent and director of my department. The only questions on the sheet referred to what standards and what activities. Chart, but I gave no in depth.
