Literary Interpretation Class: Breaking the fourth wall: Puck's speech

http://www.eeenglishclass.blogspot.com/2008/11/breaking-fourth-wall-pucks-speech.html

Monday, November 17, 2008. Breaking the fourth wall: Puck's speech. Everybody loves Puck's speech because it's just so gosh darn cool. It appears in great movies like "Dead Poet's Society" because it's so gosh darn cool (which is the primary reason it sticks in my mind like a wet booger). He literally says "well, if you didn't like what you saw tonight, pretend it was a dream! Act 5, scene 2.though Puck says it much more eloquently). It is a very tongue in cheek moment. Literary Interpretation Class: The ultimate love triangle thing!

http://www.eeenglishclass.blogspot.com/2008/11/ultimate-love-triangle-thing.html

Monday, November 17, 2008. The ultimate love triangle thing! It's been a while since I read the play, so excuse me if I come off a bit muddleheaded. Oberon loves Titania but, let's face it, he's a bit of a dick. He makes her fall in love with someone else (some vile thing, which turns out to be Bottom), and in some places that would be grounds for divorce. Or at least a spot on the Maury show (headline: you made me fall in love with an ass so I want a divorce! November 17, 2008 at 10:13 AM. My Thoughts O...

Literary Interpretation Class: September 2008

http://www.eeenglishclass.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Wednesday, September 24, 2008. Well, the long and short of it is that Emerson suggests that being other than yourself and not believing in yourself is the most heinous crime someone can inflict on themselves. Jin could not accept himself as being different from his peers and longed to be more like them. Peer pressure is a horrible thing. Of course, I have to wonder, how does one define which part of himself is the truest part of his being? So what's the point I'm getting to? Monday, September 22, 2008.

Literary Interpretation Class: Quickie on...War Is Kind

http://www.eeenglishclass.blogspot.com/2008/10/quickie-onwar-is-kind.html

Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Quickie on.War Is Kind. It doesn't detract from the fact that the poem is a very effective piece of work for what it intends to do (and it is rather eloquent with its stark images of violence). I also like the fact that the poem manages to evoke sounds of the battlefield with the wording. I chose not to write about persepolis because I already did the reader's response about it. The Skeptic: October 2008

http://willieelmonosblog.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, October 29, 2008. Why do we enjoy focusing on others peoples strife? Why focus so much on the problem, or worse yet the symptoms? OK, I know this isn't what was asked for but c'est le vie. Or death. There are much larger issues here. Does conflict shape who we are or do we shape conflict? In other words, we shape ourselves regardless of whats going on. Wednesday, October 15, 2008. The Skeptic: Thesis??

http://willieelmonosblog.blogspot.com/2008/11/thesis.html

Looking at these texts in the context of Emerson's. 8220;self reliance” and the Transcendental. Movement can change the way we interact with the world and improve our relationships with it. Monday, December 1, 2008. As far as graphic novels, I honestly didn't know they existed until now.  I knew of comic books but I didn't know there were novels that were all in pictures.  While I do enjoy them and they are a very quick read, I still have to say I prefer to read regular novels because I like to use my imagination as far as what the characters and settings look like. Wednesday, September 24, 2008. Absolve you to yourself, and you shall have the suffrage of the world.- Emerson. I think this quote from Emerson relates to American Born Chinese through the monkey king. The monkey king singled himself out from the gods, the other monkeys, and who he really was. He tried so hard to become something he wasnt. In the end, his creator punished him and he was stuck under a rock for hundreds of years. If that isnt suffrage, i dont know what is.
