Emily's English Blog: September 2008

http://www.emilymcgibson.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Monday, September 29, 2008. The Bluest Eye - Fall and Winter. I'm doing my close reading paper on Bluest Eye. I noticed the way Toni Morrison uses color to describe the way people talk. I'm not sure of the passages in the book, but I specifically remember her saying someone talked in green. So my working thesis is:. Toni Morrison's Bluest Eye. Uses color to convey more meaning out of a character's message. Does that make sense? Tuesday, September 23, 2008. Self Reliance in American Born Chinese. The term...

Monday, October 20, 2008. Also, on page 540 we see the picture that Craig drew on Raina's wall being painted over. It's like he is erasing her image or memory because he has finally gotten over her. I think all of the texts we have read so far discuss feeling lost or being afraid of being an outcast. In American Born Chinese. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Katie Syzdek: Blankets

http://literaryinterpretationkadar.blogspot.com/2008/10/blankets.html

Wednesday, October 15, 2008. I choose these four pages for a multitude of reasons, I found them to be interesting parts of Craiogs story but more significantly they aid in understanding the young man Craig evolves into. These excerpts illustrate why Craig is reluctant to engage in intimacy with Raina, why he feels ashamed for harboring such thoughts, and where his internal struggle originated from. Joe's Blog: Thoughts on The Bluest Eye

http://joeslitblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/thoughts-on-bluest-eye.html

Monday, September 29, 2008. Thoughts on The Bluest Eye. I'll admit it: I have not gotten far at all in this book. I don't even have it with me. However, I do recall the very curious introduction " See the house. The house is green.". While I'm not positive, I think that is the text of one of the earliest children's books. Of course, in that time, the subject of almost any kind of "mainstream" literature was white. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My Thoughts On Literary Interpretation.

Joe's Blog: Dream Country

http://joeslitblog.blogspot.com/2008/11/dream-country.html

Wednesday, November 19, 2008. I haven't read any graphic novels outside this class, so I'm unsure if many others have taken Shakespeare on, and how they compare to the original.  Anyway, from what I've seen/read so far in Dream Country. Gaiman is sort of faithful to A Midsummer Night's Dream. Are actually acted out as a play by the characters.  This is about as far as I've gotten so far, but I find this very peculiar. The Skeptic: October 2008

http://willieelmonosblog.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, October 29, 2008. Why do we enjoy focusing on others peoples strife? Why focus so much on the problem, or worse yet the symptoms? OK, I know this isn't what was asked for but c'est le vie. Or death. There are much larger issues here. Does conflict shape who we are or do we shape conflict? In other words, we shape ourselves regardless of whats going on. Wednesday, October 15, 2008. Scene that really struck me was on page 60 when he is burning all of his "childhood" drawings and childhood itself.

http://literaryinterpretationkadar.blogspot.com/2008/11/sandman.html

Wednesday, November 19, 2008. Gaiman' text compares to Shakespeare's text in a variety of ways but I think the most substantial correlation that can be made is the plot runs almost parallel to A Midsummer Night's Dream. Literary Interpretation!: Class Evaluation

http://literaryinterpretation2.blogspot.com/2008/12/class-evaluation.html

Wednesday, December 3, 2008. 1 As a student, I have really grown from this class. I have learned new ways to read and take in literature, and I can definitely say that this class has opened up the definition of literature for me. It was nice to have a class for once which was not only interesting, but self reflecting as well. 2 In general, I really enjoyed reading. Oranges are not the Only Fruit. A Midsummer's Night Dream. 5 After taking this class, I can honestly say that I have a better understanding a...

Wednesday, November 19, 2008. My fellow classmates (catching up on blog). My fellow classmates,. I got sick with a flu Sunday night :( I am sorry I couldn't make it to class on Monday. Below is my take on one of the relationships involved in Shakespeare's play. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone would like to provide any feedback/ fill me in about the classroom discussion I went through some of the blogs posted and left a few comments :).
