John Budd's weblog, for reflections on life and its bizarre nature. A Miscellany of Musings. View my complete profile. Sunday, March 25, 2007. Three, going on four months later. Reading some of my last posts provides an insight into how fast one's life can change. Over the last three months things seem to have fallen into place. Cambridge. Have given me an offer - much to my delight - which I have accepted as my "firm", along with Bristol, Warwick. My "insurance" - and Exeter. Although I flinched when fi...

John Budd's weblog, for reflections on life and its bizarre nature. A Miscellany of Musings. View my complete profile. Thursday, May 31, 2007. The Apprentice: reflections at week 10. It was my original intention to post a weekly analysis of The Apprentice. As always, however, events and sheer laziness conspired otherwise. So, here we are at week 10: what do I think so far? Initially it appeared the same as at the start of the second series: all the contestants (surely applicants? Who do I think will win?

JOHN'S JOURNAL: Thoughts on History

John Budd's weblog, for reflections on life and its bizarre nature. A Miscellany of Musings. View my complete profile. Thursday, September 10, 2009. Sometimes a revealing insight can spring from the least expected of places. I say this as I was recently watching the brilliant Peep Show. When an encounter between Mark and Jeremy struck me as reminiscent of the confusion which sometimes surrounds History. Any answer is right.’ What they fail to understand is the past’s ambiguity, its comple...Is it enough ...

A miscellany of musings. The answer is in the name. Sunday, March 25, 2007. It's been a while. It seemed an age since I had last posted, so I checked the date and realised that I wasn't wrong. The events of the past few months have been so numerous that I don't really know where to start. Posted by Jack @ 3/25/2007 10:11:00 PM. View my complete profile. Its been a while. A not entirely satisfactory week.

A miscellany of musings. The answer is in the name. Sunday, December 11, 2005. Despite the fact that I have not yet recieved the RAM back from Crucial, this weekend has been a fairly good one. I've finally got round to putting up the new shelving and am very pleased with it - my room is somewhat of a detritus at this point, so the extra storage space is appreciated. Posted by Jack @ 12/11/2005 11:33:00 PM. Friday, December 02, 2005. A not entirely satisfactory week. I have not updated for some time; the ...

http://miscmusing.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
A miscellany of musings. The answer is in the name. Sunday, September 10, 2006. After the summer holiday (whose duration seemed to be only a few days), I'm back at the sixth form. Again. It's difficult to believe that I was almost looking forward to getting back - having settled once more into the usual grind, lie-ins seem almost a distant memory and the deluge of work is not pleasant. I was relieved, as I thought my performance in the summer exam wasn't great (I was right; it was a B). Easy, 'nuff said.

A miscellany of musings. The answer is in the name. Friday, February 24, 2006. Those of you who have noticed the lack of recent updates (i.e. none; I suspect the lack of them is rather conducive to a non-existent readership) might have pondered the issue and attempted to formulate a reason for this lengthy period of inactivity. Had I become swamped with work? Perhaps a variety of technical issues? Posted by Jack @ 2/24/2006 11:16:00 PM. View my complete profile. Its been a while.

A miscellany of musings. The answer is in the name. Wednesday, August 09, 2006. Ultimately, these results might well decide the outcome of my university applications - as such, the prospect of recieving them is deeply concerning, to say the least. A) performance in the most recent exam. Preposterously easy examinations (8 marks for decoding some numbers.), but my coursework was, frankly, pretty shit. I'll be interested to see what I get here. What is there to say about this? I left Maths until the end be...

A miscellany of musings. The answer is in the name. Thursday, November 10, 2005. After one of my good friends (whose blog can be viewed at http:/ rantingrambler.blogspot.com/. So, to begin. I attended a trio of chemistry-related lectures at Bristol University on Wednesday and thoroughly enjoyed them; it was refreshing to escape the college and they have certainly led me to ponder a career in the subject - evidently they achieved their goal for at least one individual! I was also interested to note that D...

A miscellany of musings. The answer is in the name. Sunday, March 12, 2006. Well, well, well; after what seems like only the next day after recieving. Ie my GCSE results), I get yet another little piece of paper with some life-changing numbers on it. In this case, it happens to be my AS Level module results. It transpired eventually that my General Studies Paper 1 mark was in fact one of (if not.
