John Budd's weblog, for reflections on life and its bizarre nature. A Miscellany of Musings. View my complete profile. Sunday, March 25, 2007. Three, going on four months later. Reading some of my last posts provides an insight into how fast one's life can change. Over the last three months things seem to have fallen into place. Cambridge. Have given me an offer - much to my delight - which I have accepted as my "firm", along with Bristol, Warwick. My "insurance" - and Exeter. Although I flinched when fi...

John Budd's weblog, for reflections on life and its bizarre nature. A Miscellany of Musings. View my complete profile. Tuesday, September 02, 2008. How could you possibly class issues like these as unworthy of examination? Ignorant speculation such as this is not just deeply insulting, it's dangerous. Just look up the Irvine libel trial back in 2000 (which reminds us that such opinions can be held by so-called historians) or Richard J. Evans' In Defence of History. Which shows the possibility of true his...

John Budd's weblog, for reflections on life and its bizarre nature. A Miscellany of Musings. View my complete profile. Wednesday, September 12, 2007. Revisiting Salley Vickers' review on The Times. Not very cleverly used, of course. Here's another one that makes just as much sense: If someone says "Guns are dangerous" just substitute 'Biscuits' for 'guns'. Then you can say, 'Oh, that's like saying 'Biscuits are dangerous! I also listened to a Today. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

John Budd's weblog, for reflections on life and its bizarre nature. A Miscellany of Musings. View my complete profile. Thursday, May 31, 2007. The Apprentice: reflections at week 10. It was my original intention to post a weekly analysis of The Apprentice. As always, however, events and sheer laziness conspired otherwise. So, here we are at week 10: what do I think so far? Initially it appeared the same as at the start of the second series: all the contestants (surely applicants? Who do I think will win?
JOHN'S JOURNAL: Tree time

John Budd's weblog, for reflections on life and its bizarre nature. A Miscellany of Musings. View my complete profile. Wednesday, December 20, 2006. We boost up this Christian festival (although it has undoubtedly now been appropriated for a secularised society) as the paragon of family togetherness, culinary excellence (just look at the Radio Times. And bear witness to the shear number of cookery programmes) and unqualified giving. Yet what is the reality? This comment has been removed by the author.

A miscellany of musings: March 2007
http://miscmusing.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html
A miscellany of musings. The answer is in the name. Sunday, March 25, 2007. It's been a while. It seemed an age since I had last posted, so I checked the date and realised that I wasn't wrong. The events of the past few months have been so numerous that I don't really know where to start. Posted by Jack @ 3/25/2007 10:11:00 PM. View my complete profile. Its been a while. A not entirely satisfactory week.

http://miscmusing.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html
A miscellany of musings. The answer is in the name. Sunday, December 11, 2005. Despite the fact that I have not yet recieved the RAM back from Crucial, this weekend has been a fairly good one. I've finally got round to putting up the new shelving and am very pleased with it - my room is somewhat of a detritus at this point, so the extra storage space is appreciated. Posted by Jack @ 12/11/2005 11:33:00 PM. Friday, December 02, 2005. A not entirely satisfactory week. I have not updated for some time; the ...

http://miscmusing.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
A miscellany of musings. The answer is in the name. Sunday, September 10, 2006. After the summer holiday (whose duration seemed to be only a few days), I'm back at the sixth form. Again. It's difficult to believe that I was almost looking forward to getting back - having settled once more into the usual grind, lie-ins seem almost a distant memory and the deluge of work is not pleasant. I was relieved, as I thought my performance in the summer exam wasn't great (I was right; it was a B). Easy, 'nuff said.
A miscellany of musings: February 2006

A miscellany of musings. The answer is in the name. Friday, February 24, 2006. Those of you who have noticed the lack of recent updates (i.e. none; I suspect the lack of them is rather conducive to a non-existent readership) might have pondered the issue and attempted to formulate a reason for this lengthy period of inactivity. Had I become swamped with work? Perhaps a variety of technical issues? Posted by Jack @ 2/24/2006 11:16:00 PM. View my complete profile. Its been a while.

http://miscmusing.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
A miscellany of musings. The answer is in the name. Wednesday, August 09, 2006. Ultimately, these results might well decide the outcome of my university applications - as such, the prospect of recieving them is deeply concerning, to say the least. A) performance in the most recent exam. Preposterously easy examinations (8 marks for decoding some numbers.), but my coursework was, frankly, pretty shit. I'll be interested to see what I get here. What is there to say about this? I left Maths until the end be...

A miscellany of musings. The answer is in the name. Thursday, November 10, 2005. After one of my good friends (whose blog can be viewed at http:/ rantingrambler.blogspot.com/. So, to begin. I attended a trio of chemistry-related lectures at Bristol University on Wednesday and thoroughly enjoyed them; it was refreshing to escape the college and they have certainly led me to ponder a career in the subject - evidently they achieved their goal for at least one individual! A miscellany of musings. The answer is in the name. Sunday, March 12, 2006. Well, well, well; after what seems like only the next day after recieving. Ie my GCSE results), I get yet another little piece of paper with some life-changing numbers on it. In this case, it happens to be my AS Level module results. It transpired eventually that my General Studies Paper 1 mark was in fact one of (if not. I value your opinion - But mine is better: November 2005
http://eliminos.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html
I value your opinion - But mine is better. Sunday, November 13, 2005. 20 Really Isn't plenty. So the latest thing the news has taken and ran with is the speed limit in England, with the oh-so spectacular rhyme twenty is plenty. Twenty really isn't plenty. I can take a shit faster than twenty pitiful miles per hour. And they have brainwashed some twatty looking kids into looking angered and disgusted at the way that inconsiderate drivers drive at 30, and even THIRTY-FIVE! Its always about the car isn't it?

Ranting Rabelaisian | Smile! You’re beautiful and loved!
You’re beautiful and loved! July 31, 2012. I must admit I have never in my life read a memoir. Until this summer. There really is no reason I have not read a memoir before now. I never stumbled upon one during my many hours at the library or Barnes and Noble (surprisingly). This one was my first one I have ever read, and now I am on a kick of reading nothing but memoirs! This memoir has been no exclusion, and one of my favorite reads thus far this summer. Is the story of Jeannette Walls. July 15, 2012.

Stuff I am thinking about and/or going through. Friday, December 5, 2008. I've just been working my way through Timothy and had to post this - I love the picture it paints of our Lord:-. 160;For at just the right time Christ will be revealed from heaven by the blessed and only almighty God, the King of all kings and Lord of all lords. . 1 Timothy 6:15-16 (New Living Translation). How amazing that such a person exists and wants to engage us in a personal relationship! Saturday, September 20, 2008. Back in...

Sometimes a revealing insight can spring from the least expected of places. I say this as I was recently watching the brilliant Peep Show. Ranting Raven | Raving Rants with Reid & Wright
Raving Rants with Reid and Wright. I’ve been bored recently, but haven’t had anything to say. It’s a bit of a shame what is a writer if he doesn’t write, what is a blogger if he doesn’t blog? He’s pretty much just a guy, ignorable and forgettable. One: I’m a walking contradiction, and so is everyone else. Two: My ability to write is a gift, and I need to use it more often. I need to stop being so self-deprecating. I’m good at this, and everybody reminds me more often than I’d like to hear. I don’...Life ...
