Emma's Textile Sketchbook: Repeat Pattern Concept and some photoshop doodling
http://emmastextilesketchbook.blogspot.com/2011/02/repeat-pattern-concept-and-some.html
An online sketchbook-come-blog for Textile Design. Thursday, 17 February 2011. Repeat Pattern Concept and some photoshop doodling. The journey through Duat, with the Weighing of the Heart, in particular is fairly familiar thanks to the restoration of some very beautiful Book of the Dead papyri. I was lucky enough to get to see some of them in person at the British Museum's Book of the Dead. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My deviantart page (warning, contains doodles). Emma's Textile Sketchbook: Tree of Life final piece
http://emmastextilesketchbook.blogspot.com/2011/05/tree-of-life-final-piece.html
An online sketchbook-come-blog for Textile Design. Sunday, 22 May 2011. Tree of Life final piece. I rather foolishly forgot to take pictures of my final piece for the Tree of Life project, however I do have a few happy snaps of the work in progress. Here's the felt piece, with thicker felt at the trunk, layers of cobweb felt, thicker felt and fabric to form the foliage and cobweb felted roots, which I divided into three distinct parts to represent the three roots of Yggdrasil. Labels: tree of life.

An online sketchbook-come-blog for Textile Design. Monday, 31 January 2011. Yet another interesting link. This series of lesson plans looks at the relationship between art and mathematics in pattern design. More Mathematical Patterns: Fractals. And Romanesco broccoli, to name but a few. Images from http:/ www.miqel.com/fractals math patterns/visual-math-natural-fractals.html ). Examples llike the Koch Snowflake. Can be used to create beautiful tiled patterns like these from Mathworld. Our current textile...
Emma's Textile Sketchbook: April 2011
http://emmastextilesketchbook.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
An online sketchbook-come-blog for Textile Design. Friday, 8 April 2011. Art and Design Blog. Just to let anyone who might be interested know, I now also have an Art and Design blog. Textiles in the news. I noticed a couple of interesting textile-related news pieces recently. First up, an old textile mill in Bradford has become the setting for a play. About the people who used to work there, largely based on interviews with former employees. Second, an extraordinary dress. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
Emma's Textile Sketchbook: The Tree of Life
http://emmastextilesketchbook.blogspot.com/2011/03/tree-of-life.html
An online sketchbook-come-blog for Textile Design. Sunday, 6 March 2011. The Tree of Life. In Judaism and Christianity, the Tree of Life is the tree that bears the fruit that gives knowledge of good and evil in the Garden of Eden, while in the Jewish esoteric tradition of Kabalah, the "Tree of Life" is a mystic symbol that plots the path to HaShem (God). In Christianity, the tree of life is also used in imagery of the crucifixion, and as with Chinese mythology it's a symbol of rebirth. The Tree of Life.

An online sketchbook for a National Diploma in Art and Design level 3. Sunday, June 12, 2011. Reclaiming the "Before" Body - Portraits of womens' torsos. Is a interesting project by Clarity Haynes: a series of portraits of women's torsos intended to normalise the frankly normal bodies used in advertisements for cosmetic surgeries and diet plans. Here's part of her statement from the website:. Found via Sociological Images. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My articles and creative writing. Notes from a...

Emma's Online Sketchbook: Portrait Project Final Piece
http://emmasonlinesketchbook.blogspot.com/2011/06/portrait-project-final-piece.html
An online sketchbook for a National Diploma in Art and Design level 3. Thursday, June 23, 2011. Portrait Project Final Piece. Unfortunately I forgot to bring in my camera so I don’t have progress shots for this one. The foreground, the portrait itself, proved a lot more difficult. I tried to trace the rough positions of features using an overhead projector but things kept jogging it making it difficult to put things in the right place. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Emma's Online Sketchbook: Interesting styles of painting
http://emmasonlinesketchbook.blogspot.com/2011/06/interesting-styles-of-painting.html
An online sketchbook for a National Diploma in Art and Design level 3. Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Interesting styles of painting. More research for th portrait project. My own photo from Pallant House Gallery in Chichester. I've got to admit, it took me a few moments and a few steps back to realise that this was a portrait (and I felt a bit of a fool) but once I realised, I was amazed by the depth of emotion and character Aurebach could show with just a few strokes. Emma's Online Sketchbook: Switzerland
http://emmasonlinesketchbook.blogspot.com/2011/06/switzerland.html
An online sketchbook for a National Diploma in Art and Design level 3. Monday, June 6, 2011. For my final piece, my sitter is Luna who comes from Switzerland. Her nationality is a big part of her identity so I'm planning on including a bit of a Swiss landscape in the background of the portrait (I'm hoping to go for a slightly stylised, dream-like quality to suggest memories, but we'll see how that comes out). In order to do that, I needed to make a few sketches. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Post Punk Pixie Dust: January 2011
http://postpunkpixiedust.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Post Punk Pixie Dust. Links, rants and other things of interest to very few people. Tuesday, 18 January 2011. I AM still here, honest. Still alive. Just. Post some new interesting things very soon. In the mean time, here's my other blog. Which also has nothing in it). It's an online sketchbook for the A level in Textile Design I'm doing, so obviously posts will be related to work and considerably less ecclectic than the nonsense I post here on a not-overly-regular basis. Emma's Online Sketchbook: Out and About
http://emmasonlinesketchbook.blogspot.com/2011/06/out-and-about.html
An online sketchbook for a National Diploma in Art and Design level 3. Monday, June 6, 2011. Over the last few months I've been busy with work so I haven't had time to sketch as much as I'd like. What I have had time for is a selection of strange, slightly stylised doodles of people. Since I'm working on the portrait project, doodles of people are almost. People on the bus. People at a nightclub. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My articles and creative writing. Compare and Contrast task. Postpunkpixi...

Fredag 14 augusti 2015. Emilia kom till stan igår och vi for till Plantagen och Smiths burger och åt. På Plantagen hittade jag två små söta blommor. Minns inte vad dom hette. Blomexpert som jag är. Men dom piggar upp i lägenheten. For också på en kaffe till Abc före hon for hem till Närpes tillbaka. Torsdag 13 augusti 2015. Tavla som man kan skriva med en krita på. Vet inte vart jag ska sätta den ännu men nog ska jag hitta någon bra plats. En tavla med text. Söndag 9 augusti 2015. Fredag 7 augusti 2015.

Friday, 27 March 2009. It's been a long time coming, I've been very slack with the blogging, I'm finding it hard to think of things to put in the blog, but Me and Mr A have just celebrated our first wedding anniversary and we went to Prague - it was fantastic. We had every type of weather you could think of, sun, wind, rain, snow, sleet you name it we had it but all the same it was a great few days away, and in my eyes a well deserved break for both of us. As you can see it's a long way back down. I did ...
