Playin' in the Dirt: Erin's ENB 150 Blog

Playin' in the Dirt: Erin's ENB 150 Blog. Monday, December 12, 2011. Alas the year has come to an end and the final is looming. This has been a fun class and I am glad that I took it. So this blog is going out with a song and a funny scene from Psych. Thanks Dr. Rood! This is an absolutely hilarious scene from a hilarious show! I like the Spanish version more. This is the machine I was talking about. It can also be used to make alcohol. This is the chemical make-up for nitroglycerin I believe. One of the...

Playin' in the Dirt: Erin's ENB 150 Blog. Monday, December 12, 2011. The Amphioxus, is the precursor to all vertebrates like humans and all other animals with spines. Playin' in the Dirt: Erin's ENB 150 Blog. Monday, December 12, 2011. Our lab that was to take place at the Macon Dog Park, which is also called Tyler's Place, was cut short by a ridiculously bad thunderstorm. We made it about as far as Tatnell Square Park before taking cover under a tree and then walking/running back to our respective places of warmth and dryness. Here is the blog link for the Macon Dog Park http:/ www.macondogpark.org/. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Playin' in the Dirt: Erin's ENB 150 Blog. Thursday, November 17, 2011. Awhile ago we went to the Ocmulgee National Monument, as known as the Indian Mounds. While we exploring the park and avoiding snakes, because they are super creepy animals we discovered a few things. 4 What I enjoyed most about the Indian Mounds was the view of the Macon skyline from the Great Temple Mound. It is quite a sight. Wednesday, November 16, 2011. We Now Interrupt This Lack of Blogs. So sorry for the delay of the bloggage&#4...

Playin' in the Dirt: Erin's ENB 150 Blog: Mitochondrial Eve

http://www.enb150-2011f-ep.blogspot.com/2011/12/mitochondrial-eve.html

Playin' in the Dirt: Erin's ENB 150 Blog. Monday, December 12, 2011. Mitochondrial Eve is the source of mitochondrial DNA or mDNA in all of us and by default, mother of the human race. That explains her name, Mitochondrial Eve. From her all of the races of the world were sprung, since mDNA is passed down from the mother without the recombination that dna and rna have to go through. This is a representation of what scientists think she looks like. From her comes so many different types of people.

Go Environment!

Monday, December 12, 2011. I learned about bioethanol when we went to the lab at the law school. Bioethanol is created out of sugars, and those can be gotten from a number of plants, but mostly just those that have a lot of fibrous bits in them. Dr. Rood told us about his father and the way that he created a system of production that makes both paper and fuel out of banana trees. I am afraid that those trees are grown on plantations with wage slavery populations. That is sad to me if it is true. Amphioxi...

Chelsey's ENB 150 blog. Wednesday, December 7, 2011. Graveyard Life Table Lab. Was an unusually severe and deadly pandemic that spread across the world. T can be predicted that there will be a lot more deaths in the year of 1918 compared to other years near to it. Also we wanted to see what age group and sex was most effected by the spanish flu. We can do this by creating a life table. People were quarantined during the Spanish Flu epidemic. Poster warning of the Epidemic. Tuesday, December 6, 2011.

Calvin Williams' ENB 150 Blog. Tuesday, November 22, 2011. This organism was the start of all vertebrates. It was living 250 years ago and only was 5 centimeters long. It had little body structures that resembled a spine. Yet had no limbs or anything as such to make it able to do much. This is pretty wild to me to be the start of vertebrates. Monday, November 28, 2011. Lab 10: Mitochondrial Eve. One could say she's the Mother of Modern Humanity and it would not be hyperbole. Mitochondrial Eve is where all Homo Sapien. Gets its mitochondrial dna. This tells us some very important things about humans, and enables science to trace our path from obscure North African tribe to the dominant species on Earth. It's been a long road. Lab 9: Dog Parks. Dog Parks are yet another scenario where Humans and Nature meet with unexpected consequences. To furt...
