Life in La La's Land: A New Year, A New Room!
http://lifeinlalasland.blogspot.com/2014/01/a-new-year-new-room.html
Saturday, January 4, 2014. A New Year, A New Room! But for all the space we do have, we weren't using it properly. I'm a firm believer in functionality and purpose - it's not the size of the space, but how you use it that makes the difference. Having said that, I am probably IKEA's dream consumer. Here is a rough sketch of our downstairs that I made through the free online program, Floorplanner. So things got shifted around. We sold off one of the tables and chairs, moved the dining set from the stud...

Life in La La's Land: Greatest Hits
http://lifeinlalasland.blogspot.com/p/greatest-hits.html
I've been blogging since 2007 so if you're new here, you've got a lot to catch up on. I'll give you the Cliff Notes version to get you up to speed. I started it all off here. By swearing off all men for six months. I blame this guy. For a lot of the frustration and agony I had while single and dating. I used to drink and party A LOT and struggled balancing the working-partying lifestyle. I traveled to Europe with a friend of mine from high school and we had the ultimate Eurotrip. I dated some REAL winners.

Life in La La's Land: October 2013
http://lifeinlalasland.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 11, 2013. The topic this week at Bible Study touched on a word that is near and dear to my heart. A word that encompasses both my greatest asset and my Achilles heel. Something that has created all my success but also catapulted me to the brink of self-destruction. Perfection.the pursuit of being perfect. Imagine my surprise as other members of my small group scoffed at the idea of striving for perfection. The idea of having everything in their life "just so" never occurred to me. When Sh...

The Nix Family: May 2012
http://thenixtwins.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
A Double Dose of Reality. Sunday, May 27, 2012. Kyle and I always say "I love you" to the kids, even when they are in their little cars and say "bye bye! We say "bye, love you! They have started saying it if we tell them to, but never without us prompting them. Well yesterday I was in the backyard with the kids, and Presley and I were sitting down on a chair. Marshall came up beside us in his car and said, "Bye! He calls her Dede (like day-day), since he can't quite say Presley yet. Thursday, May 17, 2012.

The Nix Family: July 2013
http://thenixtwins.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
A Double Dose of Reality. Thursday, July 25, 2013. A few things I forgot. In my year wrap-up I completely forgot some important events! Last August 28th, Kyle's older sister Nikki and her hubbie David had their baby boy, Lincoln. They live in Flower Mound so we are very lucky we get to see them a lot! Last Labor Day weekend we went to our friends' ranch and Marshall rode a tractor for the first time! Yes there is video). While at my parents for the Fourth, my mom and I took the kids to their first parade!

Life in La La's Land: September 2013
http://lifeinlalasland.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 29, 2013. I spent Saturday morning holding my godson, watching my daughter play with his older sister while I chatted with their mother, Kate. In a moment of freedom, Kate ran downstairs to grab milk and oranges for the girls while I snuggled Sam on the couch. While she was gone, I realized what had just happened and I teared up. I had taken care of a little boy who wasn't mine by blood, or even by marriage. Just the very special baby of a very special friend. And thank you, my dear Kat...

A Double Dose of Reality. Saturday, September 17, 2011. Sarah and I with the super nice embryologist. Sarah trying to show her enthusiasm for only being allowed water. My amazing/strong/survivor/beating the odds/miracles from above babies! This is not from the day of the transfer, but it was our first ultrasound picture when we found out we were having twins. For those of you who read this, if you ever want the definition of a selfless person, it's Sarah Antwine. :). Friday, September 16, 2011. The past ...

Life in La La's Land: Purgatory
http://lifeinlalasland.blogspot.com/2014/01/purgatory.html
Friday, January 3, 2014. I am in baby purgatory. Something must be done about this. Craig is pretty firm on the "no more babies" idea for a myriad of reasons - a little bit financial (two years away from NO car payments and NO day-care! And a lot bit just the overall comfort level of our life right now (no sleepless nights, easy to get up and go, no diapers or bottles). And for the most part I am right there with him. But then there is the stuff in our pseudo-attic. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Life in La La's Land: Prayers for My Daughter
http://lifeinlalasland.blogspot.com/2013/12/prayers-for-my-daughter.html
Sunday, December 15, 2013. Prayers for My Daughter. Like any mother, I pray on a daily basis for my daughter. And like any mother, my gut prayer is for an all-encompassing protection of her life and safety. For some sort of promise from God that she will always be well cared for, well treated and well loved. But I know better. So instead of setting myself up for disappointment and frustration with God (Why didn't you protect her? Were you not listening to me? I must instead change my prayers. I must pray...

Life in La La's Land: August 2013
http://lifeinlalasland.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 30, 2013. Not once this week (even with volleyball try-outs going on) did I ever regret or second-guess my decision. Nope. There is no doubt in my mind or heart that I made the right decision, not just for my family but for ME. I love being in the classroom. I love having my own space. I love being a teacher. But I also love wearing "real" clothes to work.and that's the most important thing, obviously. So without further ado, let the teacher fashion show commence. Shoes: $40 at DSW. All we...
