The Workbench, Reloaded: New Firefox makes browser war a fair fight
http://ericsomething-tech.blogspot.com/2010/02/new-firefox-makes-browser-war-fair.html
The Workbench, Reloaded. Geekiness, tips, tinfoil hats, and penguin dust. Monday, February 1, 2010. New Firefox makes browser war a fair fight. If you regularly read this space, you'll notice how the Google Chrome Web browser kind of grew on me. And after my initial reservations I've come to love it. Something about its speed. But now Firefox, with its new 3.6 version, has seen enough improvements to almost make it a fair fight. Being the experimenter that I am, after reading some of the reports I had to...

The Workbench, Reloaded: Got my Chrome on -- finally!
http://ericsomething-tech.blogspot.com/2010/01/got-my-chrome-on-finally.html
The Workbench, Reloaded. Geekiness, tips, tinfoil hats, and penguin dust. Wednesday, January 13, 2010. Got my Chrome on - finally! After a whole bunch of testing, tweaking, and head-banging. Google Chrome is now working on my Linux box. At issue was an nss file; I'm not real sure what it does, but it makes Chrome work. That's all I need to know. Keep in mind, this is for a Slackware version of Linux, specifically Vector Linux, which is the one I use. It's in .tgz format, for me a breeze to install.

The Workbench, Reloaded. Geekiness, tips, tinfoil hats, and penguin dust. Wednesday, June 24, 2009. Battery life: The ABC's of YMMV. Wonder why your laptop batteries don't seem to last as advertised? Here's an article in Newsweek on how battery life is figured,. Which illustrates exactly what "your mileage may vary" means. You figure it out, but first tell me if there's any other kind. For the record, my Aspire One gets about two hours per battery charge.). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Subscribing is easy .

The Workbench, Reloaded. Geekiness, tips, tinfoil hats, and penguin dust. Thursday, November 26, 2009. Chrome OS promising, but it's more for the future. It won't be ready for the general public for another year, but the sneak preview of the Google Chrome OS. Is generating quite a buzz. It may be a Windows-killer, some claim. It'll put Linux on the map, say others. It'll be a fiasco, say still more pundits. So far, nobody's neutral. According to the Google blog. Although InfoWorld’s Randall Kennedy.

Old editors never die, they just resort to bloggery. Thursday, July 14, 2011. Turning a routine shoplifting into an adventure. Some folks absolutely must make a simple job difficult, like this guy in upstate South Carolina:. SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. -. A man was arrested Saturday after deputies say that he stole meat from a grocery store by stuffing it down his pants, according to an incident report. But wait, there's more, according to WYFF News:. Old editors never die, they just resort to bloggery. Monday, February 28, 2011. Is it spring yet? These Bradford Pear trees, popular in the South as an ornamental street tree, are usually among the first things to bloom out here. While temperatures are supposed to drop again this week, Charleston boasted springlike weather over the weekend with 80-degree days. This photo was shot Sunday morning off Rivers Avenue in North Charleston. Links to this post. Thursday, February 24, 2011. What do you think?

Old editors never die, they just resort to bloggery. Wednesday, March 30, 2011. Roll the cameras already: Here's another possible Thin Mints plug. Not long ago I mentioned Thin Mints, the world-famous, to-die-for, to-perhaps-fight-for Girl Scout cookie. Some roommates in Florida fought over them, one whopping the other upside the head with various blunt objects and the roomies chasing one another with scissors because of some stolen Thin Mints. Remember? This photo crossed my transom the other day:.

Old editors never die, they just resort to bloggery. Tuesday, May 24, 2011. CDC has some emergency procedures for you. They come out at night . In search of brains . And the Center For Disease Control wants you to know what to do in the event of a zombie invasion. Maybe the whole idea came from all those pepperoni pizzas washed down with way too much Mountain Dew, but the CDC put out a blurb outlining preparedness steps when the undead come a-calling. Seriously. Check it out. Here's the link. OK Now we'r...

Old editors never die, they just resort to bloggery. Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Alvin . AL-vin . ALVIN! So formerly-unknown Senatorial candidate Alvin Greene wants to debate incumbent Jim DeMint? This ought to be good. Or maybe not. The Big Picture, whoever they are, spent a little time talking to Greene recently. To his credit, he sounds a little more together in this interview, but it still doesn't bode well for his debate chances:. This campaign isn't even going to be funny . Links to this post. Links ...
