The Tesla Valve – Errant Science
http://errantscience.com/blog/2014/02/26/the-tesla-valve
February 26, 2014. February 26, 2014. Be it known that I, Nikola Tesla, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the country and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Valvular Conduits of which the following is a full, clear and exact description. Above is the first sentence of a little known patent. As I mentioned in my post a few weeks ago. My current project ( VADR. My first ideas to create a kind of trap seemed, clunky. After a few half-hearted attemp...

Marvelling at the new. August 24, 2016. August 24, 2016. I am from time to time, a little cynical about science, research and particularly academia (it’s the bureaucracy that causes it). Indeed, you might notice the subtitle of this blog highlights that it’s all about being ‘irreverent’ about science. But as some of you might know, I actually love science. I don’t mean I love …. Labview or python? – Errant Science
http://errantscience.com/blog/2013/10/16/labview-or-python
October 16, 2013. October 16, 2013. A few weeks back, I sorted out a second contact to work on alongside the cBAM project. Unfortunately, the nature of this project means I can’t be as open as I would like – for now at least…. However, this week a problem arose in my new project that I am also dealing with in the cBAM project and I feel it needs sharing. This led to an intresting dilemma for me – do I develop something in Python or Labview? So to help, I wrote myself a little pros and cons list for using...

October 28, 2015. October 30, 2015. So next week is the start of November, which is many things but importantly to me and therefore this article, it is National Novel Writing Month (aka ‘NaNoWriMo’). Ignore the ‘National’ bit as this is a hangover from when it was a US based thing. It’s now spread worldwide and each year has around 200,000 people …. A work of fiction. July 22, 2015. This is a bit random, but…. 2016 work and home goals – how it went. 2017 goals – work and life →. New season running so far…. It’s been 3 weeks since returning from my lovely between-season’s running break and so far everything is going along boringly. Which is actually excellent in this case because it means things are going as expected, with only the usual ‘starting up again’ stiffnesses and twinges and no major setbacks. Christmas lights – the prettiest part of twilight/pitch-black winter runs. About ...

This is a bit random, but…. We’re number 2! We’re number 2! Final race of the season – RSNA conference fun-run →. Today is not a good day. I don’t generally enjoy discussing politics but I need to say something today. I woke up this morning at 5:30am, confirmed the news, and spent the next half hour trying to get ready for work with tears streaming down my face. Please know, if you are hurting or scared, that there are people who will stand for you, and who love you, and who will continue to fight for you.

This is a bit random, but…. New season running so far… →. 2016 work and home goals – how it went. My big work goals for 2016 were to read more papers, look at and submit to conferences, and attend the extra monthly orthopaedics and spine lectures. Amazingly, I actually managed to accomplish all of these goals, through a mix of natural progression and focused attention. Got back on track, and then fell off a bit in the late Fall when a big conference came around. My main goals for home time were to read m...

Errant Satiety « seeking sublime surrender
So, a while ago I wrote about the dangers of, or concerns around, striving for perfection. I don’t think I made clear that I believe, think, feel that recognising our imperfection and striving to be authentic and continue the active process of becoming ourselves is the key to our ability to enjoy our lives to the fullest and express who we are with meaning and therefore satisfaction. I think these are the things that lead us beyond Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Into a new realm of more holistic needs.

Jul 5, 2015. Negligence, News and Nattering. After a short stint at a previous client automating some incredibly unnecessary manual processes (literally copy-pasting old SQL scripts, changing variables and manually running them against the production DB) I’ve moved to a brand new project with a new client doing what will hopefully be some super impactful work improving their release process. As a result I am finally getting around to reading Continuous Delivery. May 13, 2015. So I’m finally actually gett...

Errant Scraps is a take on my last name. This blog is mostly about my scrapbooking and crafting journey, with a random side story of a recipe gone bad or an errant toddler thrown in for good measure. Underdog
2 mayo, 2012. No me preocupa desintegrarme trabajando. Tampoco me complica descuidar mi salud. Participa. Intégrate. Cómo me define usted? Mucho gusto, usted es uno más. Un motivo, nada más.
