Why do we bother buying land in the Yeo Valley when it is so far from Woody Bay? It is highly unlikely we will see this stretch being used in our lifetime – why buy it? The Lynton and Barnstaple Railway. July 2003 and August 2004. I first explored the route of this narrow gauge railway on a visit to Devon in 2003. The route was closed long before I was born. I was surprised to find much evidence of the railway and to my joy a real steam train working on part of the route! Has great sea views.
