Waterton | Experimenting as we grow

https://experimentingaswegrow.wordpress.com/2015/07/24/waterton

Experimenting as we grow. July 24, 2015. July 24, 2015. I’m actually surprised we see any wildlife at all (two bears while hiking and several other from our vehicle) with the ruckus we make on the trails. Susanna is a live bear bell, emitting constant noise, whether it’s shrieks, chatter, or song. Medleys pour out in an unconscious stream and I hear. I got my first real six string…. Amazing grace how sweet the sound. Para bailar la bamba. One after the other. After an hour of. Fill Up My Cup. Shanon, Wil...

Beans, Wine, and the Real Vivi | Experimenting as we grow

https://experimentingaswegrow.wordpress.com/2015/08/17/beans-wine-and-the-real-vivi

Experimenting as we grow. Beans, Wine, and the Real Vivi. August 17, 2015. Mom, do we have to clean today? 8220;Nope, no cleaning. I mean, no. This kitchen was perfectly clean at five o’clock yesterday. I love purple beans. All three girls treading Shelly’s cherries with very clean feet. I promise. The girls garlic did better than mine. I planted mine in a heavily composted bed; theirs was in poorer soil. Not sure if that was the reason? Belén skiing for the first time at the Whyte’s cabin. The moms&#821...

Experimenting as we grow. November 6, 2016. November 6, 2016. I’ve hiked Andean mountain passes that plunge into lush jungle. I’ve followed wild rivers through the tundra and bathed in their remote falls. I’ve canoed on pristine lakes alongside moose, eagles, and river otters. I’ve poked at anemones and starfish in Pacific tidal pools. I’ve driven down red dirt roads of Prince Edward Island. I’ve posed for photo ops in front of the Swiss Alps. In the autumn sun. Is as beautiful a thing as I have ever seen.

Be Curious | Experimenting as we grow

https://experimentingaswegrow.wordpress.com/2015/07/07/be-curious

Experimenting as we grow. July 7, 2015. Everything, and nothing at all, happens in summer. Plants burst out of tidy rows and create a a canopy over black dirt. Songbirds in my yard perform like it’s the encore at their final concert, as if they know this gig won’t last for long. We pack for camp, for sleepovers with grandma, for the beach, and for a whole new round of. Retreating to the basement on a hot afternoon to sew doll clothes. Is right down there with. 8220;Mom, do you know how I pray sometimes?

Practically Homemade: Party Time!

http://practicallyhomemade.blogspot.com/2013/10/party-time.html

Thursday, 17 October 2013. One of my boys just turned four and we had a great time preparing for the party. I was reminded again about how so much of the enjoyment of celebrations is in the anticipation and preparation. All you need to make a pinata is newspaper, a balloon, and flour and water mixed to a 1:1 ratio. We glued tissue paper to it after it had dried for 24 hrs. I have to admit, I did not have high hopes for the sturdiness of our pinata, but it actually held up well! All in all we had a great ...

A taste of riches | Today

https://kocbena.wordpress.com/2015/03/11/a-taste-of-riches

A taste of riches. March 11, 2015. My days alone are like little treasures. Especially the days that I have not booked anything, unsure if I’ll get a call to sub or not. When the sub call doesn’t come, I can’t say I’m too disappointed. Yesterday was one of those days. I actually did get asked to sub for the afternoon but even a morning of quiet is a beautiful thing. I kept snapping pictures because each turn seemed to reveal more beauty, another reminder of how much I have. At my feet. Majestic trees.

BE | Shorthanding Sanity

https://shorthandingsanity.wordpress.com/2015/07/06/be

Because blogging is cheaper than therapy. July 6, 2015. I collect books I never read. They’re beautiful, second-hand things with dog-eared pages and broken spines; bent under the weight of someone else’s hand. I pile them high; stacks on my nightstand, stacks on my mantle, stacks on my kitchen cabinets. I look at them and I love them, knowing they’ll be offered up on the altar of my self-imposed busyness. I collect experiences I never live. I collect a faith I never practice. So help me God. Mmm Well sai...
