Mosaic Art | Experiments in Art Education
https://experimentsinarteducation.wordpress.com/2012/12/05/mosaic-art
Experiments in Art Education. Artistic growth through discovery. December 5, 2012. Students created hand made clay tiles in both square and irregular shapes (such as flowers, fish, and waves). MizzSmiff's Art Room: July 2015
http://mizzzsmiff.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
AP Art History LiveBinder Shelf. Art is the only way to run away without leaving home. Twyla Tharp. Tuesday, July 7, 2015. I went to Hobby Lobby today and it seems that the pumpkins and pilgrims had been out for some time and the little worker elves were busy setting up Christmas decorations. I suppose then that it is not preemptive of me to go ahead and post my back to school supply list. You can find all the AMS class supply lists here at Teacher Lists. Visual Arts Supply List. In the meantime, don't t...
MizzSmiff's Art Room: February 2015

AP Art History LiveBinder Shelf. Art is the only way to run away without leaving home. Twyla Tharp. Sunday, February 15, 2015. I am hoping for an early release and a 2-3 hour delay, the holy grail of teacher (and student) days. I enjoy the chaos, the change in schedule and the excitement that snow brings to the south. And the no-make-up-days. Which around here, are Saturdays when we are fresh out of teacher workdays. I think that we have one or two left this year. Lee and Adam hit the ceiling. My point i...

AP Art History LiveBinder Shelf. Art is the only way to run away without leaving home. Twyla Tharp. Monday, March 23, 2015. Oil Pastels and Sacrifice. HATE oil pastels. With a passion. The only other thing that is dislike more is chalk pastels. I hate the texture. I hate the mess. I hate the residue that they leave on my hands. I hate them. But I do it anyway. While we were working, I heard a few comments along the lines of "I HATE oil pastels! They are so messy! Can I wash my hands? If it were up to me,...

AP Art History LiveBinder Shelf. Art is the only way to run away without leaving home. Twyla Tharp. Thursday, May 21, 2015. Kellise and the Giant Pencil. So, today's blog is not so much about what art we are doing in my class right now (for the record, we are finishing kaleidocycles and about to start a quick Robert Indiana lettering project) but a little exchange that Kellise and I had the other day. Does it really write? Can I use it? But then, she said. She liked my idea. So we decided that for every ...
MizzSmiff's Art Room: Summer
http://mizzzsmiff.blogspot.com/2015/06/summer.html
AP Art History LiveBinder Shelf. Art is the only way to run away without leaving home. Twyla Tharp. Saturday, June 20, 2015. Summer is upon us here in the middle of North Carolina and when I say summer, I'm not kidding. The last week has seen record breaking temperatures often over 100 degrees and it has been muggy. I wonder if my students are getting bored yet? I hope not, but here. If you are bored, get creative! I promise to take lots of pictures and I'll try to post them often. Art vs. craft. A line ...

AP Art History LiveBinder Shelf. Art is the only way to run away without leaving home. Twyla Tharp. Saturday, August 22, 2015. AP Art History LiveBinder Shelf. Art is the only way to run away without leaving home. Twyla Tharp. Saturday, May 2, 2015. Sharpie Shoes and Art Club. As a side note, fast finishers in my class are loving designing their own sneakers using print outs of these shoes. It's been fun for them to do as they are finishing up projects and need to find something creative to do. Here's a few pics of our finished sharpie shoes:. Emma loved hers, put them on right away and has worn them several times. And she has m...

The last few weeks in the art room have been a flurry of activity! Seriously, I need a break. Good thing Thanksgiving is coming up fast. It's all been great and fun but we have been so busy! Experiments in Art Education
Experiments in Art Education. Etsy: Eleven Skies Studio. Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Using cardboard looms all 6th-8th grade art students created two small circle weaving for a permanent collaborative installation in the library. Most of the yarn was collected by sending out a district wide email and the cardboard was cut from the numerous Blick art supply boxes I have been saving. With very little cost, and a high level of visual impact, this project was a great success! Prep- Cut MANY 3x3 inch squares.

Experiments in a small kitchen
Experiments in a small kitchen. Temperatures, weights and conversion tables. Monday, 14 January 2013. This recipe comes from Elizabeth David, and is cited by many contemporary chefs as the 'classic' chocolate mousse recipe. I love it because it's simple, straightforward, you can vary the quantities easily and it's always been popular when I've made it. A note: this recipe contains raw eggs, just in case you're squeamish about these things. I'm not - I use fresh eggs and I've never had a problem. Whisk th...

Experiments in Bliss
The country needs and, unless I mistake its temper, the country demands bold, persistent, experimentation. It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something." -Anthony Burgess. 05 January, 2015. EXPERIMENTS IN BLISS: GETTING THE MOST OUT OF A NEW YEAR. Happy New Year, everyone! You can read my first official post of 2015 HERE. I'm thinking of officially switching over to my wordpress blog. Let me know what you think. February saw t...

experimentsinbliss | The world needs more blissful experimentation!
The world needs more blissful experimentation! Wheel of the Year: Lughnasadh. 9 August, 2015. 9 August, 2015. This post is grossly overdue. I feel like I’m starting a lot of my posts with some derivative of that statement these days. Oh well. At least I’m posting eventually, right? Better late than never, and all that. Whether or not you are living in an agrarian society – if such a thing even truly exists anymore – Lughnasadh is also a time of personal. Insert favorite inspirational theme song here.].
