experiments in my kitchen: June 2008

http://experimentsinmykitchen.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Experiments in my kitchen. Sunday, June 29, 2008. Unstuffed Cabbage Roll Casserole. I'm taking the next step in learning how to cook - limiting myself to cooking with only what I have on hand in my kitchen. This is born partially out of my desire to simplify my cooking and my life, and partially out of gas being $4 a gallon and not wanting to make special trips to the grocery store. Tuesday, June 24, 2008. Spaghetti with Sauteed Kale, Walnuts, and Garlic Scapes. Monday, June 23, 2008. Oh so chewy and del...

experiments in my kitchen: Wrigley Field-esque Frosty Malt

http://experimentsinmykitchen.blogspot.com/2008/09/wrigley-field-esque-frosty-malt.html

Experiments in my kitchen. Saturday, September 6, 2008. Wrigley Field-esque Frosty Malt. I have blogged before about my longing for the frozen chocolate malts that you get at Wrigley Field. My first attempt earlier this year. Was quite disappointing, so I hadn't tried again since then. Now that it's Cubs season again, I decided to give it another try, and found this recipe. Here it is, fellow Cubs fans! 4 1/4 cup whole milk. 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa (I used Nestle). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

http://experimentsinmykitchen.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html

Experiments in my kitchen. Sunday, September 30, 2007. Gianduja Gelato with Stracciatella. I remember every so often when I was younger, my parents would buy a jar of Nutella. What a special treat! I would spread it on bread and enjoy a Nutella sandwich. So delicious. This ice cream, another one from The Perfect Scoop. Saturday, September 29, 2007. Friday, September 28, 2007. We got rhubarb in our CSA basket last week - I've never cooked with it, so this was an adventure. I've only had rhubarb once a...

Peanut Butter & Goat Cheese: September 2008

http://peanutbutterandgoatcheese.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Saturday, September 27, 2008. If you'll bear with me, this is a post about something unrelated to food. But someone related to me. The eloquence to put words down on paper that jump up off the page. The desire to touch people, friends and family alike, so that I may leave a legacy as timeless as she. To go back in time and get to know Dorothy better. I found out only recently she had over 500 aprons-a collection that I've just started. Thursday, September 25, 2008. We forewent the restaurant. We started ...

Peanut Butter & Goat Cheese: It's Okay to Churn...

http://peanutbutterandgoatcheese.blogspot.com/2009/07/its-okay-to-churn.html

Thursday, July 30, 2009. It's Okay to Churn. I know I've been a little bit lax in my posting, but you know what's all the rage these days? Forgiveness. Everyone's doing it. When you forgive someone your heart just smiles and you feel a ton better. Forgiveness is like Raspberry Ice Cream. That feeling you get when you let go. Stop hoarding all those freshly picked raspberries and just give in. Churn them, it'll be okay. Raspberry Ice Cream (Adapted from The Perfect Scoop). 1 1/2 cups half and half.

Sunday, July 27, 2008. Yesterday I got together with my long lost friend BT. He moved to San Fran about 4 years ago and I hadn't seen him since! We decided on the French Meadow Bakery and Cafe. In Uptown and sat outdoors, enjoying the sunshine. It was great to catch up. We fell right back into it and gabbed for a few hours! I had the omelette of the day which came with a side of hash browns,. Salsa and house-made sourdough toast. BT feasted on some Eggs Benedict with a light side salad. Then you grind th...

Peanut Butter & Goat Cheese: November 2010

http://peanutbutterandgoatcheese.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, November 2, 2010. I'm totally irrational. I kinda want to marry my new smartphone. Wait, I know what you're thinking. Let me explain. Now, I can get on board with "Phones are phones," I really can. I can also get on board with having email and a teeny baby computer at my fingertips. Convenience. It seems the only thing the smartphone doesn't have is a flash! I apologize for the laboratory photos, but it's worth it in the end. Read on. First, you preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Oatiest Oatmeal ...

Experiments in Paper

Thursday, July 30, 2015. Second Finnabair Workshop Piece. It has been a little quiet on the blog, as I have been out west with my family. I'm getting ready to put up a house on our farm in rural Idaho in the Northwestern US. It will be a vacation spot for several more years at least, but eventually I will settle here if all goes well. This evening, as we were readying for dinner, my sister-in-law Beth noticed the full moon over the ridge. But on to the piece from the second day of the Finnabair workshop.
