Iten is a small, unassuming town nestled upon a hill (called Hill Ten, from which the town got its name) in the high-altitude Rift Valley region of Kenya. Eighty percent of Kenya's Olympic team resides among the town's 4000 residents. And the experience that one finds here is frequently the talking point in running circles all over the globe.

The two hour drive north wasn’t the least bit boring; you could see the rolling countryside for miles on end. But the closer we got to our destination, the more mountainous the terrain became. Soon, the views from the van were those of 1000 foot precipices that disappeared into the clouds below.

Det er så utrolig mange forskjellige måter å hilse på. Skal jeg ta dem i handa, bare helt vanlig? Eller må jeg holde venstre hand på albuen mens jeg hilser? Skal jeg først gi en klem, så håndhilse.
