Farm Girl in the Big City

Thursday, September 2, 2010. We finally made the jump from big city living down to the small town simple life. And I've created a new blog to chronicle the changes, from becoming a stay-at-home mom to updating our new-to-us 50s ranch house. Http:/ lifeinamericana.wordpress.com/. Hope to see you there! Thursday, July 8, 2010. An open letter of apology to my parents. I love my kids. I love them to pieces, but that doesn't mean they don't try my patience and my sanity on a daily basis. See, goofy, goofy girl.

Farm Girl in the Big City: May 2010

http://farmgirlinthebigcity.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 31, 2010. The kidlet has picked up a rather uncouth new habit. We've become fond of picking our nose (and occasionally eating it. Joy.). I know it's just a phase and we only mildly correct her if we catch her in the act, but still. Not something I enjoy seeing my little girl do, especially when she's all dressed up! If you're doing something you're not supposed to be doing, she will let you know! Wednesday, May 26, 2010. And Ode to Rhubarb. Of red and green. 4 loaves of rhubarb bread. I had a...

Farm Girl in the Big City: April 2010

http://farmgirlinthebigcity.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 26, 2010. It's been ages since I've been able to participate in an iheartfaces. I know I posted this photo a while ago, but I've yet to use it for iheartfaces. It's one of my favorite shots I've taken of the kiddo. It's from the day I took the kids to the park. The weekend where it snowed 3" Friday night to Saturday morning and then melted and was 45 degrees by Sunday. Spring in Iowa, what else can you expect? Check out all the other great smile photos at iheartfaces. You'll be glad you did!

Farm Girl in the Big City: December 2009

http://farmgirlinthebigcity.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, December 29, 2009. It was an oddish (is that even a word? Christmas this year. An impending weather system completely wreaked havoc on our plans. We drove up to my parents on Wednesday night, during sleet/freezing rain. Not the smartest move on our part, but slowly and carefully we made the normally 90-minute trip in three hours. Somewhere in there, our darling kidlet turned into a hungry baby bird. Opening Christmas jammies after our baths:. The kiddos even let me sleep in on Christmas day....

Farm Girl in the Big City: July 2010

http://farmgirlinthebigcity.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, July 8, 2010. An open letter of apology to my parents. I love my kids. I love them to pieces, but that doesn't mean they don't try my patience and my sanity on a daily basis. Especially the kidlet. I think her personality is a little too similar to mine. She is strong-willed, stubborn, independent and silly. See, goofy, goofy girl. She can go from this:. In about .03 seconds flat. This kid, she's going to give me gray hair, I just know it. Me: Kidlet, do you want to go outside? She's a joy and ...

Overeducated and Underpaid - - My Life as a Mom. I have six years of higher education and what do I do? I stay at home. Don't get me wrong, I love staying at home (i.e. "not working") but I don't get paid much. And daily interaction with a 6 year old and a 4 year old isn't always intellectually stimulating. But the benefits are okay and hubbie pays the bills, so here I am. Wednesday, September 30, 2009. See, a chaotic life is routine around here. Monday, September 21, 2009. Orange Blossom Sissy

Monday, March 2, 2015. I'm super good at missing obscure holidays. Which stinks, because I love them. International pancake day? Love them, but miss them all by at least a day. But I missed a big one. I missed Pig Appreciation day. Facebook failed to tell me until today that yesterday (March 1st) was Pig Appreciation day. Usually I would be okay with that but this year I actually have. A pig to appreciate. Also we had two pounds of bacon in the fridge we could have eaten. Monday, February 23, 2015. Can I...

Farmgirl in Training

Learning and sharing new farmgirl skills. Monday, September 30, 2013. I have been doing this homesteading thing for a few years now, and I'm always learning. I have taken an interest in compost. That is normally my hubby's job. Physical labor just isn't my thing. But lately with all that has been going on in my life, I've felt the need to be outside, breathing fresh air and MOVING. This spring I had made my own raised bed garden using a real bed frame. I like to use what we got.know what I mean? I'm form...
