July 2015 | Farm Girl

http://www.farmgirlmiriam.ca/2015_07_01_archive.html

You are not alone. Figuring out life, one blog post at a time. Friday, 31 July 2015. How to ditch envy for good. Let me tell you an uncomfortable truth: I used to be a jealous person. Not jealous in the romantic sense, as in being worried about my partner's female friends and/or exes - that never bothered me much. I was jealous of other people's lives. You see, even when I thought that I was happy where I was at, I still worried about other people being happier; I was sure I could do better. Once I had g...

Standing still means going backwards | Farm Girl

http://www.farmgirlmiriam.ca/2015/08/standing-still-means-going-backwards.html

You are not alone. Figuring out life, one blog post at a time. Tuesday, 11 August 2015. Standing still means going backwards. I don't talk much about my day job on the blog. There are several reasons for it, but the two main ones are: Confidentiality (I don't want to reveal something confidential by accident), and I think it's just not that interesting to talk about. Once in a while, on a slow shift at 10pm, I was asking myself what I was doing. Would that be it for the next 25 years? The universe is a f...

5 months of yoga | Farm Girl

http://www.farmgirlmiriam.ca/2015/08/5-months-of-yoga.html

You are not alone. Figuring out life, one blog post at a time. Tuesday, 4 August 2015. 5 months of yoga. I'm into my sixth month of doing yoga daily. Five straight months of being dedicated to a workout is completely nuts. For me. I have never before in my life been able to do that! I have touched before on the mental and spiritual part of the yoga practice. And why it is so important to me, so I won't talk about it today. Side crow with a side of Corgi. Splits on the other hand? Cute puppy though.).

May 2015 | Farm Girl

http://www.farmgirlmiriam.ca/2015_05_01_archive.html

You are not alone. Figuring out life, one blog post at a time. Sunday, 31 May 2015. Be the heroine of your own story. Have you ever imagined your life as a movie? The hero(ine) has to encounter adversity, because in the end they always come out of it stronger than they were before. They are often misunderstood and alone for a stretch. But they always do what they have. To do, because otherwise they couldn't live with themselves. When I was a child, my parents signed me up for music lessons, and that deci...

I'm annoyed | Farm Girl

http://www.farmgirlmiriam.ca/2015/08/im-annoyed.html

You are not alone. Figuring out life, one blog post at a time. Wednesday, 12 August 2015. Hi humans, Lily here. I have a request to make. My human parents brought a new sister home four months ago, and I would like to return her. Who can I talk to about this? At first she may seem okay. But don't be fooled: It takes her all of 0.2 seconds to become annoying again. All she wants to do is play. Luckily, not only me. But it's all day everyday! We are all exhausted. I need a break. My mom took me everywhere.

Ja! Toilet Paper! Nein! - pastthewall.com

http://pastthewall.com/2015/08/ja-toilet-paper-nein

On my recent trip to Germany, I had the pleasure of staying in student housing, so natürlich. I had to purchase some supplies. I went to my local Rewe. And bought the selection above. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised that food in Germany was fairly inexpensive. We always hear that everything is so much more expensive in Europe, but not true. German food was much less expensive than in the US. Well, I can tell you they named this TP correctly. Ja in German means, “yes.”. The world may never know.

Like most would-be bloggers, I spent a long time building up the nerve to start a blog. Being a perfectionist at heart, the fear of failure paralyzed me. What should I write, who would. Der Kürbis – Pumpkin. Der Kürbis – the pumpkin. Die Kürbisse – the pumpkins. It’s pumpkin season here so a trip to the local Pumpkin Patch was a must. Last weekend, we spent a leisurely hour oohing and aahing over the huge selection on pumpkins, squash, apples, honeys, maple syrups and other wonderful fall delights. It was really fun to see the kids enjoying the crisp fall weather. Yup, the little thug bastard got our display. I stalked him for about three days and finally got a pic of his little mug.

A lot has happened since my last post. I showed you my wheels, described my fears about blogging and basically bragged about my tropical locale. Well, things have changed. In December, I moved from tropical bliss to winter bliss. I was here…. Then about 18 hours later I was here…. 8230; and here. Any big transitions in your life? All pictures are my own unless otherwise stated. Feel free to use but please link back to my site if you do. This entry was posted in Chicago. April 28, 2015.

How to Write a Sentence: a book review

http://www.jenericgeneration.com/on-writing/how-to-write-a-sentence-book-review

How to Write a Sentence: a book review. Monday, February 23, 2015. My brother and sister-in-law gave me this book for Christmas called,. How to Write a Sentence: And How to Read One. By Stanley Fish. Have you heard of it? For a book on writing–oh but it’s much more than that–I sure read it like a thriller page turner. How is this different from other books about writing? For starters, this book is not about writing in general, but only about writing. And if you can’t write a well-formed sentence, o...

2015 Reading List (Part I)

http://www.jenericgeneration.com/books-2/2015-reading-list-part-i

2015 Reading List (Part I). Thursday, July 23, 2015. It’s that time of year again! We have passed the midpoint of 2015, with Christmas only 23 Fridays away. I know. It was shocking to me when I realized it, too. I like to share my reading habits throughout the year, and June/July means it is time for Part I of my 2015 book list! But not worry about it if I couldn’t. I didn’t read a lot in the first couple months of Violet’s life, but because I was so. Here is what I read from January to June of 2015:.

Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Here's an easy dinner that seems to work with all my kids and the various neighborhood kids who drop over at mealtime. Wednesday, February 17, 2010. In the midnight hour…. So, I wrapped myself a little tighter in the blankets and let my thoughts roam. Thoughts of baby chicks naturally lead to more springtime plans and I worry for awhile about the whereabouts of my missing garden seeds.  Of course I’m also worried because I’ve never waited so long to start my ...160; I’d lov...

Races, Rides and Runs. Looking Back & Forward. August 9, 2012 by cole. This summer has been one the busiest I can ever remember. Work took over, I joined a co-ed softball team, and I am back in the saddle… on a horse! Today, looking forward, I’ve made my first big plan. I’ve accepted I won’t be able to make the triathlon in September. There is just no way. I should have picked an event closer to home. BUT… I’ve signed myself up for the Tour de Cure in Reston,...Also, it is so nice to be back riding a hor...
