Worthing Wanderer: 02/01/2015 - 03/01/2015

http://worthingwanderer.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 25 February 2015. We parked at the south end of the scattered Chidham village and decided that we would undertake the walk in the opposite direction from the suggested route in our Pathfinder Guide (vol 52 “More Sussex”, walk 8) so that we could make the most of seeing the sunset on Bosham village. It also meant that we could get the majority of the non-shoreline part of the walk out of the way early on. Boats bobbing about on the water and the orange glow of the setting sun on the steeple of ...

Worthing Wanderer: St Leonard's Forest

http://worthingwanderer.blogspot.com/2015/08/st-leonards-forest.html

Monday, 3 August 2015. It was one of those afternoons where it was very difficult to know how the weather would go and even the forecast was non-committal and changing every hour. What we couldn’t be sure of was whether it would rain or not. On that basis we were up for a walk but not anywhere too exposed or long distance and so we picked walk 1 in the Pathfinder Guide Volume 24 St Leonard’s Forest. Also walk 6 in volume 66 West Sussex and the South Downs). Labels: Pathfinder Guide Walks. Digging a new c...

Worthing Wanderer: 12/01/2014 - 01/01/2015

http://worthingwanderer.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 31 December 2014. Cissbury Ring From Findon. Along the path was a very wintry looking landscape becoming rather devoid of colour as the lushness of the vegetation has diminished considerably. A few of the hawthorn bushes were manfully hanging on to their red berries but the early lustre of shiny autumn fruit had been replaced by matt versions… The girls wandered along behind me chattering to themselves leaving me to admire the landscape and the magnificent clouds. Looking Back to Lychpole Farm.

Thursday, 30 October 2014. Sussex Border Path Section 18 Cowden and Hammerwood Park. Several more months have ticked away without me being able to do more of this walk and I was anxious to do more. Now I am the other side of East Grinstead it is getting a little harder to find a long enough time slot to walk the route but on this Sunday morning I was disciplined enough to get up very early and take myself off to Cowden village. I politely told her I wasn’t lost before heading on my way. I went downhill a...

Wednesday, 16 July 2014. South West Coast Path Section 43 Brixham - Torquay. Getting the bus over to Brixham for the start of the walk was pretty easy although I would have preferred to go by train. Sadly for me the last train ran to Brixham more than 50 years ago so I was a little late for that! I did however enjoy my ride at the front of the top deck of the bus – that is always a treat! I got to Brixham in mid morning and provisioned myself up before heading north along the coast. Saturday, 12 July 2014.

Thursday, 19 March 2015. Heading up from Funchal. Having been away for some winter sun last year I am definitely a convert! Botanic Gardens Cable Car. Ribeira De Joao Gomes. We discovered our first little problem here as we had to cross and then recross the levada in the space of a few moments – not easy for little legs! The character of the path changed for a short distance as we headed through the grounds of the Choupana Hills Resort. A large water tank and pretty little water house made for a perfect ...

Worthing Wanderer: 08/01/2014 - 09/01/2014

http://worthingwanderer.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, 31 August 2014. It took some time to free ourselves of the housing but eventually we reached a gate to the moors at the top of the hill just beyond the main school. What followed was undoubtedly the highlight of the walk for we were to climb up and away from the town along a pretty well-worn path. In fact I wondered whether this path might once have been a road into and out of Largs? Before the tarmac road across from Kilbirnie it must have been quite hard accessing the town from the east. Largs ...

Saturday, 27 June 2015. Kennet and Avon Canal Section 9 Semington to Avoncliff. I was rather glad that we weren't there on the day as our chatter along the towpath would not have been welcome I am sure. She is really going to have her work cut out to make sure they reach motherhood themselves. This was a scene that we would see a lot along the towpath although I think this was the biggest set of ducklings that we saw on the whole walk. Soon we reached the wharf at Bradford-on-Avon. By now it was mid-...

The Fatdog Repository | Fatdog “Tails” 2006 – 2008

Fatdog “Tails” 2006 – 2008. Welcome to…the Fatdog Repository. Leave a comment ». I quickly realised that the main blog at. Where the Fatdog Walks. Was going to fill up with far too much old material. My solution was to open a second “front” here at… the Fatdog Repository. This should hopefully tidy up the original blog and give a fresh look to the past few years of Fatdog “Tails”. I hope you enjoy this addition. Link back to main site :. Where the Fatdog Walks. Written by Ken Brown. Old Man of Storr.
