Faultbook: September 2010
http://faultbook.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
The Official (Sometimes Guilt-Ridden) Blog of Leonardo Ciampa. Sunday, September 26, 2010. Mary B. Davenport (1919-2010). Today, through a random Google search, I learned that more than nine months ago, the great contralto and teacher Mary Davenport passed away in Albuquerque. She died on my birthday, January 17. She was ten days shy of 91. I am profoundly saddened by her loss. In her memory and honor, I quote in full my chapter on her from The Twilight of Belcanto. Sundays in Golders Green". In 2003 I t...
Faultbook: Tamara Brooks (1941-2012)

The Official (Sometimes Guilt-Ridden) Blog of Leonardo Ciampa. Wednesday, May 23, 2012. Photo by Jeff Thiebauth ( http:/ jefftphoto.com/. Yesterday morning, I heard the devastating news that choral conductor Tamara Brooks died of a heart attack, at the age of 70. After Joe Maneri, Tamara was the most inspiring, and most musical, musician that I ever encountered at New England Conservatory. She was the real deal, the genuine article, a person whose deep passion for music was never spoiled by the world.
Faultbook: July 2011

The Official (Sometimes Guilt-Ridden) Blog of Leonardo Ciampa. Saturday, July 16, 2011. I write to you with exciting news about an organization that it has long been my dream to found. Fire is not the only enemy of historic organs. One by one, churches around the country are turning away from what they deem to be "traditional" music, ignoring or even discarding their valuable organs in favor of inferior electronic and digital instruments. ONE WAY TO SUPPORT THE HISTORIC ORGAN FOUNDATION. Of the Foundatio...

Faultbook: August 2010

The Official (Sometimes Guilt-Ridden) Blog of Leonardo Ciampa. Wednesday, August 25, 2010. A Year Without Joe Maneri. Yesterday, August 24th, marked a sad anniversary: one year since the world was deprived of the life of Joe Maneri. Joe left the world a more impoverished place and left a hole in my life that could be patched but never filled. But despite Joe's departure (or because of it? It would be like him to be pulling some strings Up There! He replied, "Flattery will get you nowhere."). With such su...

Club d’Elf Bloggings. Micro vard’s rumblings from beyond. Goodbye Poppa Joe (First Movement). Micro, Erik Kerr and Joe, Framingham, MA. I first met Joseph Gabriel Ester Maner. I in the late ’80s when his son Mat. Began playing with the world jazz group Natraj. With whom I was playing bass. Joe was like no one I had ever met before, or since for that matter. I had always been attracted to musical mavericks and lunatics – people like Harry Partch. And Don Van Vliet. Music at all hours of the day and night&...

Skip to main content. Terraform – Import Azure Resources. March 23, 2018. March 4, 2018. One of the first uses I’ll have for Terraform in my work will be adding resources to an existing environment – an environment for which Terraform has no state information. This means when I’m declaring the new VMs and want to tie it to a Resource Group, Terraform won’t have a matching resource for that. Today I’ve been playing around with Terraform import. Resource azurerm resource group. Resource group name =. Then ...

What did I do now? Sunday, December 5, 2010. Our Swift has already clocked 55,000 kms on the stock JK Vectras in just over 3 years. Though bald on the side-treads, they just don't seem to give up on the tarmac. Wet roads - thats the only place where they almost close their shop - having learnt that on our return from the last Pondy trip with quite frequent lateral shifts and roll in the rain. If the customers are young and racy, the funkier the tread pattern, the better the tyre. The deeper the custo...
