Wednesday, May 29, 2013. Swan boat and other Quilt Market antics. As promised, here’s. Editor Amber Eden and me in the swan-boat centerpiece of the Michael Miller. Booth at Spring Quilt Market in Portland. Fortunately it’s only a still shot, as my dismount was less than elegant. I bumped into Amber on her way in, and we had a great time checking out new fabrics together. Market was a great reminder that the people I work with over phone and e-mail do actually exist in the real world! Meeting and catching...

Monday, March 23, 2015. Mid-Century Monday: Verner Panton waves. I just noticed my Op Art Runner pattern in the Sew Daily store. So I thought I’d share a bit of work by Verner Panton, which inspired the shapes and colors of the runner. Lots of Panton’s pattern design leds itself to patchwork—in this case, I built the curves out of Drunkard’s Path units. Textile design by Verner Panton, c. 1971 (via Quintessentia). Curtains, furniture, lighting, and rug by Verner Panton (via Panton World). Picture Window ...

Monday, September 16, 2013. Mid-Century Monday: Modern quilts in the movies. The Other (a professor of film studies) and I went to see Pasolini’s. 1972) in San Francisco yesterday, and it wasn’t the bawdy humor or nudity that shocked me: instead, I was stunned by the presence of patchwork and quilting throughout! Not only were there quilts everywhere in the film, but I couldn’t help feeling like they were pretty similar to what we think of as modern quilts today: simple shapes, uncomplicated patter...

Friday, March 25, 2011. Hexie Apron and Giveaway Winnings. March has been good to me. I've won two blog giveaways! The first was from Kelly at kelbysews. She had a giveaway to celebrate her birthday and I was seriously eyeing this bag and what luck I WON! She also included some Good Folks fabric squares as part of the prize. I stole this picture from her because the Florida sun makes for better pictures then the Chicago grey I'm dealing with. You can find an awesome zippy pouch tutorial on her blog.

Welcome to our little corner of the Internet. Kick your feet up and stay a while. I designed a fabric line. Yep, I can still barely believe it. It’s called Grafic. It’s in celebration of graffiti and street art and the streets of Los Angeles. It’s bold. It’s graphic. It’s gritty. It will hit stores this month! I love it. I hope you do too. And, then I put them all into a Look Book. Check it out. I hope that it inspires you. If you love it, request it from your local or online fabric stores. This tutorial...

Friday, November 20, 2009. Yesterday Bobby and I took Donna to the Festival of Trees at the Orlando Museum of Art. It is an annual fundraiser for the museum and a pretty good one too. The theme for this year was something akin to Recycle, Reduse, Reuse, Rejoice! This one was okay, I just really loved the big topper on it. I'm a sucker for a huge tree topper. A sucker. I'm also a sucker for peacocks stuck on top of a tree. A sucker. This was a Paris tree.now I don't love love love the stuffed poodles ...

Thursday, April 30, 2009. Experiments gone bad.and a surprise. So, I'm trying to get myself away from sewing just square bags.it will take some getting used to, but I'm trying. So I thought I'd try a curve in my bags. One disaster, one that seems to work. We'll start out with a regular ole square bag that I just made.the only difference is that I used an old kerchief (who says that? Instead of it being around my neck.it might end up in someone's hand. Here is the disaster. Ready? It gets better from here.

Thursday, April 29, 2010. Now I love prints. I rarely work in solids, unless for an accent or border or lining or something like that. Well, I changed my mind yesterday. I worked in solids! Friday, October 30, 2009. So, I really really hate date stamps on my photos. I'm apologizing to you now because I forgot to turn off the date stamp on this new camera. And I'm going to do some more once this post is finished and I have put the dishes away. I might be sewing as you are reading this! Links to this post.

Sunday, July 26, 2009. Saturday at the Nursery. This past week has been pretty wonderful. Donna (Bobby's mom/my future mother-in-law) celebrated a wonderful birthday on Thursday. We cooked out and celebrated with her. On Friday, Bobby and I headed back up to Donna and Jason's house for a weekend sleepover. I had Saturday off from rehearsal, so we all pitched in and made a wonderful meal. And it was vegetarian! Saturday morning Donna, Bobby, and I got up (Jason made French toast! I'm terrible about writin...
