Friday, April 12, 2013. I fired Betsy because she spent too much time arranging the loaves in the display window. I kept telling her, “We just need baskets so customers can see what we have and reach in to get what they need.” But she kept doing it her way. She spent hours creating elaborate constructions of wheat and sourdough, challah tucked into open spaces as support, round wreath loaves perched atop precarious towers. 8212;and some clean linen to line them with. Stories: About Stories

http://fictionaldigressions.blogspot.com/p/about-stories.html

On a Friday night after a long work week. I had intended to copyedit just one more chapter in a polysomnography textbook, but decided my brain was too frazzled to risk it on someone else's words. So I wrote a quick-and-dirty story instead, and slapped it up on a shiny new blog before I could change my mind and decide it wasn't good enough. The stuff I write that's (mostly) true and that I (usually) think about for longer than five minutes while I'm (more or less) awake is over on Digressions.

FROM WHERE I STAND

FROM WHERE I STAND. The life and times. Saturday, 20 September 2008. The life of this fictional desi is in turmoil. A dissertation that won't finish. A country that won't warm up. A bank account that won't fill itself. Deadline is the 25th. Friday, 12 September 2008. The Circle Grows Bigger. The Mister and I lay awake in bed for 3 hours last night, talking. One of those its-only-3am-and-I’m-not-used-to-sleeping-before-5 nights. Or, you would have to move out enough to let that new person in. So this is m...

Who are the “Four Queens of Crime”? The golden age of detective fiction covers a lot of detective fiction — and many great writers got their start during this period. There were four women who were particularly influential during this time. In fact, their impact was so large that historians and readers now often call them “the four queens” of crime! All four authors became successful during the 1920’s and 30’s. Agatha Christie’s first book. The Mysterious Affair At Styles. The Crime at Black Dudley.

Fictional Discourse

Here are some of my works on the analysis of fictional discourse- only TV so far. My background is linguistics, that's why I pay attention mainly to language features, as opposed to others. However, I argue in favour of a multimodal approach to the analysis of media texts. Febrero 20, 2013. Fictional Distraction

Wednesday, March 13, 2013. Review: Gilt by Katherine Longshore. Simon and Schuster Children's (UK). February 28th, 2013 (UK). In the court of King Henry VIII, nothing is free—and love comes at the highest price of all. My Rating: 4.0. As someone who is incredibly intrigued by the Tudor era, I had wanted to read. While I definitely read way too few historical novels, I tend to enjoy them a lot whenever I pick them up. Having watched the TV show The Tudors. A very unputdownable read. All in all, Gilt.

I've written a few non-fiction tales, now its time to try writing something different. Tuesday, January 10, 2006. The old mansion on the hill. The big old house up on the hill, over-looking the city not far from where i live, just on the other side. To this day it still remains, perched up there in all its glory. A very large building that was more of a Mansion. Its gates were of. Wrought iron and the property was completely closed in and off limits to all. We used. Other nearby Hal Roach Studios. Into t...
