Jenny Glover's FIDDLETAILS. Tag Archives: Jim Childress. August 16, 2015 · 09:53. A lovely crooked ‘new’ old-time tune that’s becoming more widely known. The recording below is from the Stockholm session founded by West Virginia old-time fiddle, banjo and guitar player Rachel Eddy. The tune was composed by another Virginia fiddler, Jim Childress, and named for his wife who was born in Malvern, Arkansas. Jim originally recorded it on the 2004 CD. Happy Wednesday Oldtime Jam, Stockholm, Sweden. Every week ...

Jenny Glover's FIDDLETAILS. September 26, 2016 · 12:33. So what better way to start the week than with this breezy Old Timey/Ragtimey tune – originally from renowned. Virginia fiddler ‘Uncle’ Charlie Osborne (1890-1992), who played left-handed on a conventional right-handed fiddle, and was famous for his fiddling from the age of 15 until his death at the age of 101. Who learned the tune from a recording of Uncle Charlie Osborne. And of course, Georgia Row. Have a happy week, everyone! Share on Facebook (...

Jenny Glover's FIDDLETAILS. October 30, 2016 · 18:16. Bid farewell to sweet October with this beautiful composition by Anna Gustavsson – one half of American/Swedish duo. Whose US tour I featured earlier this week. It’s also a great chance to hear a nyckelharpa, the iconic Swedish instrument famously played by 18th-19th century master nyckelharpist Carl Ersson Bössa (Byss-Kalle), composer of last week’s Fiddletails post. Laurel Premo (fiddle), Anna Gustavsson (nyckelharpa). Laurel and Anna’s new album.

Musings of a fiddler in love with fiddle music. Wednesday, January 14, 2009. Don't let your instrument get the winter blues! While winter for us means warm fires, snow capped mountains and lots of hot chocolate, winter for your fiddle can bring on all sorts of problems that can make playing a daunting task. Signs that your instrument is too dry:. Beautiful fi...
