October 6th, 2006. 23,413 - Nice of them to make it fairly easy. Oct 6th, 2006 at 11:06 AM. A good warm-up puzzle for the champs - a tricky clue to a short word at 6, a non-obvious anag. (for me at least - looked for ROMAN? First) at 8, and a need to eliminate a red herring at 16. BAIL - a small bar on a cricket field. Very easy to rush into RAIL instead.

I'm pondering changing this blog to a "community", with a team of about 3 to 6 people to share the task of writing up comments about the day's puzzle.
