Fighting the KC Boredom: Raven Tales - Part 3

http://fightingthekcboredom.blogspot.com/2013/08/raven-tales-part-3.html

Friday, August 30, 2013. Raven Tales - Part 3. We last left our friend Raven in the valley at the edge of forever, to catch up on his past adventures click here. Now, one might think sleeping in the mid-day sun atop a large rock is less than ideal, but even Raven knows if you go looking for ideal you will never find the right thing. He slept more peacefully on top of his rock than he had in the last fifteen moons in his tiny glass house. He circled them once, and then twice. Much to Raven’s surpris...

Fighting the KC Boredom: April 2013

http://fightingthekcboredom.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Friday, April 5, 2013. Atop a cliff at the edge of Forever sat a glass house. A large crack ran through the wall of the house, and through that crack is how a black cat named Raven escaped. But, of course you already know that, because that is where the last story ended. You can’t remember the story? We’ll if you click here. You cannot say that any longer.) Now we’re all caught up at the End, and the End is precisely where we shall begin. Of course the black cat Raven didn’t know. That when he jumped.

Fighting the KC Boredom: A.J. DOYLE HALL

http://fightingthekcboredom.blogspot.com/2013/12/aj-doyle-hall.html

Saturday, December 14, 2013. Each entryway wore the thick letters “A.J. DOYLE HALL” over its threshold. It was the largest building on campus, with doors facing north, south, east, and west. The coliseum style lecture hall had been built by money donated by Mr. A.J. DOYLE himself. He was wealthiest man in the tri-state area and chose to hand deliver a check to the dean when he realized he wanted to fund the masterpiece of architecture. He would wait for the students to come out of A.J. DOYLE Hall...Since...

Wednesday, September 25, 2013. The Goodbye - Part 2. If you missed Part 1 click here. For two days they had been waiting for the rest of the children. The soldiers were adamant. The children would depart in groups of seven—no more, no less. Her son had been the second to arrive. A matched pair had been deposited at the guard’s feet late that evening, a brother and sister whose guardian hadn’t waited to see them off. For two days the soldier’s words had haunted her. He was such a good boy . He doesn&#8217...

Wednesday, July 24, 2013. Here We Go Again. I won't give you apologies or excuses for why I've been gone. I'll just let you know I'm back and fill you in on a few things. Also you may remember I take my birthday month very seriously, and it is about to begin. According to my good friend Bob, you get as many days to celebrate your birthday as the number you are turning. So I get 34 birthday days this year, and I intend to use all of them very well. We're looking for stories that:. Bring that one. He w...

Saturday, October 20, 2012. Critics of Slaveholder Jefferson. Are Prisoners of a Time Warp. Few negatives about Thomas Jefferson come through louder and clearer than criticism of his having owned slaves. So did other presidents, but Jefferson’s writings on liberty have made him appear hypocritical. In that time. And place, however, slaveholding didn’t look quite so onerous—except to slaves. As he observed many years later, slavery was like seizing a wolf by the ears—“we can neither hold him n...Present-d...

I swear I don't know how these things happen to me. Archives for the month of: September, 2012. Laquo; Older Entries. September 30, 2012. Dressed in my old jeans and a sweatshirt, I gathered my gardening tools, my work gloves (a lovely lilac color), my matching garden hat and shoes and my weed eater and headed out the front door. The cool morning air was invigorating. Excuse me, young lady. Aren’t you forgetting something? Excuse me, you with the yappy dog. Aren’t you forgetting something? No, you don’t.

Z Words: Brush Strokes

http://zwords.blogspot.com/2014/06/brush-strokes.html

From zag to zymotic. Tuesday, June 17, 2014. I realize how much in awe I am of artists like Monet, Van Gogh and Seurat. Imagine painting a subject- and you are close enough to your canvas to use small brush strokes, and yet your subject comes alive with light and dark and shape and line, and we see it as a complete work. That's what it's like sometimes to write a long work- or even a short one. You concentrate on the small brush strokes that you hope lead to the big story, the big picture.

Z Words: February 2012

http://zwords.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

From zag to zymotic. Monday, February 27, 2012. I hope vampires are still in. Because I'm rewriting a NaNo story from a couple of years ago and it's got vampires. One sexy, ambivalent alpha male and one ancient, evil, I-want-to-rule-the-world beeyotch. Autism: The Growing Up Part. My son is autistic. He's high-functioning, but not Aspergers. What's the difference? He still has no math skills at all. He will probably always need help handling money. He's 21. Almost ready to age out of the school system.

Fighting the Invisible

Sunday, January 5, 2014. Life never presents us with what we expect. After this saga, a woman I work with said something that stuck with me - something always goes wrong when we have a baby - either it's a hard pregnancy, or a tough labor, or feeding the baby is an adventure. Well, I fell into category number 3. I only pumped a few more times in the evenings, and then finally put my pump away and never looked back. Tuesday, December 3, 2013. Thursday, I felt kinda crappy. I had a few contractions dur...

Fighting The Minotaur | Complext Trauma And The Journey Within

Complext Trauma And The Journey Within. A Note On Continuity And Tone. December 8, 2016. December 8, 2016. I realize that some of my entries lack continuity and may seem to fluctuate in their tone. The thing is that at this point, I’ll write something, but then add to it when I read it through a second or third time. Because of this, it certainly lacks an editorial finish. I’m also trying to keep my entries relatively short. I don’t want anything to become ponderously long. Thanks for your patience!

Fighting the Mystery | The story of a lady who refuses to surrender

The story of a lady who refuses to surrender. Two weeks ago, my most recent doctor prescribed amitriptyline for “chronic pain” to see if it would help my condition. I didn’t have much hope for it working, seeing as I experience irritation and burning but not anything I would describe as “painful.” Just very, very uncomfortable. There are three things about my symptoms that I feel must hold some sort of key to what is going on, yet at the same time they only stump the doctors (if they get any consideratio...
